I just thought of this while looking at my 8 3/4 rear end sitting on my garage floor. I have a 8 1/4 in mine now will I need to get stiffer springs since it weighs more than my 8 1/4 ?

No. The axle is unsprung weight. It does not effect the ride height of the vehicle.

No, your rear axle assembly and wheels is " un-sprung wieght" Just as your front suspension beyond the torsion bars. ( lower control arm, spindle, brakes , wheels and tires. ) When you add weight which is supported by the springs, then you may want to increase spring tension........................MO

I had good luck with ESPO springs. They can make them so the car sits how you want it. Price was good.

I finally purchased rear leaf springs and went with ESPO .

If you don’t get the ride height you’re looking for you can always buy “add a leaf” from Summit for about $35. They’ll give you another 2” if desired. Easy to attach to your existing springs.

I used ESPO springs on my 73 RR, its sits real nice and level but I have slightly taller tires on the rear to give it just a slight rake forward!

Ya that's what I'm going for it has the original magnum 500 14"wheels on it now I want the same thing but in 15" but I wanted to get new springs on it so I can fit a nice fat tall tire on the back

I hope you've lowered the front; it's super easy. All it takes is using a wrench or socket to turn the torsion bar adjusting bolts counter-clockwise until the front gets to the proper height...it was way high in that picture you had posted (as if there was no engine in the car)

I'm not touching it till I put the new springs on then I'll have a better idea what the stance is.
