A little off topic, but mirror related. On a manual mirror, is there any way of tightening up the mirror on the pivot ball?

I was reading an older issue of MA this past summer and came across a loose mirror fix from EBooger. Spray the ball of the mirror with brake cleaner and let it dry. Then put a drop or two of super glue on the ball and rotate the mirror around every which way for a minute or two. This will provide some resistance to the mirror without gluing it tight. I tried it on my Satellite (while on the car) and it worked.

Abel thanks for posting this. If I am understanding correctly can this be done without removing the mirror? Or you still have to remove the mirror than perform this?

Yes, Justin, the mirror stays all together and on the car. It's about a 10 minute job including masking off around it to keep the car clean. It's not a restoration technique like you guys have been describing, but it's a nice quick fix for a driver like mine.

I had drivers and I wish I new of this task....people viewing the thread have drivers too......

Personally, I would try this first before popping the mirror off described in that thread above....

I’m trying to wrap my head around this. My mirror got broken yrs ago, there is no room for anything but a wire(maybe) to cut old glass out. I found a website that sold the glass and it worked great. (Not coded or anything), but I made mistake of putting a little chassis grease on the strap that goes around the ball pivot. Ergo, shut the door- need to adjust mirror, everytime. Should have relied on the rust/age of the pivot. Not a real big deal in the scheme of things.

I agree...I don’t get the wire trick as there is no room to get it started.....

Good question....as I was thinking about this the majority I recall are in the 11-12 range.....

Here are some recents scores on fleebay.....you guys have got to learn how to search and how to list things. These were listed in a manner that didn’t pop under standard searches....I will not devulge my searching secrets on eBay to find these.

As you all now 68 and 69 dash acrylic panel pieces are extremely rare to find good used ones. Let alone NOS. These are the dark wood grain which is correct for 69...I think the seller either didn’t know pricing or thought because they were dull in appearance. Guess he thought they were not worth a lot. Wrongo brother.....

If I told you what I paid for these you wouldn’t believe me and would ask the mods to ban me

I know that Dodge in 69 had the Scat Pack Club which they mailed out a small gift of novelty items to the owners who purchased a performance Dodge car in 69. Did Plymouth have a similar mailing as a thank you gesture for purchasing a 69 Plymouth Performance vehicle? I am thinking that the Rapid Transit System did not gain footing until 1970 for the Plymouth line. Question number two would be, did this mail out extend over into 1970 and possibly 1971 to the new owners purchasing one of the Mopar performance vehicles. Thanks for any insight.
