Ok folks! Recently took apart my smallblock 360. Had installed a cloyes true roller race timing set 12 to 13 years ago. Some driving was hard/harsh you could say. So chain had some slack not alot but some. Some 2 or 3 years ago bought another cloyes exact same one for a low price on ebay so couldn't pass. Now the question is Rollmaster offers one with billet sprockets and IWIS German made chain. Would this be a better choice or just use what I got?

Can’t see the benefit. Spend the money on something else.

Ditto what HT413 said. If you didn't already have one I would consider the IWIS-equipped piece, especially if building for high performance...but the Cloyes is a tried-and-true unit as well plus it's paid for...

Just needed some advise before making a decision I would surely regret! You all are very right I'm better off getting something else that's needed in the cam change. ( Going to a bigger cam.)

Cool, the extra $150 you won't be spending on the timing set will pay for the springs!

Oh got those from a member over @ forabodiesonly. Brand new Crane springs and retainers for $75 bucks! Their already swapped on and new valve seals as well.

I'm on the fence on that one. I would put the Roll master in. The last Cloyes true roller I got had no brand name on the chain, makes me nervous where they are getting their chains from now.

My 2 cloyes race chains have the name reynold on the links. I did a little research some time ago and it's a French made chain. Supposed to be one the best chains from Europe right up there with IWIS German chains such as the one rollmaster carries.

If your chain is a Reynold I would run it.

We literally build thousands of engines every year using both of those brands names with no issues with either. Can't go wrong with either one.

Hey 6PCKRTSE my real question is does one outlast the other or are both about the same in their life expectancy? It's funny I had been looking on ebay @ the rollmaster and one caught my eye which offers nitrided gears. I saved this on my watch list and it started @ 120 bucks and have been offering me lower and lower price. Just a moment ago it came down to 98 & free shipping!! Wow. But on the other hand I already have a new cloyes @ hand so i find it tough to spend again unless it really is better.

They will both be fine for what you are doing. I would run what you have.
