Spectra hp fuel pump died after 100 miles

What a month I’m having. After adding a 1/4” return line for the vapor breaker, new fuel sender, new 3/8” fuel supply line, and new pump, now the pump is failing. Car cut off 4 times this morning and fuel pressure is down to 1 psi and fuel is at bottom of sight glasses. I see why people give up. Ugh.

Any recommendations for a fuel pump? I really want to keep the vapor separator. It does make the pressure bounce from 5-8 lbs when working due to the return line relieving pressure. Don’t really want an electric pump or fuel pressure regulator either. Is the pricy Edelbrock pump any good? Will it keep up with the separator?

I tried the Edelbrock pump and the pressure dropped like a stone under wot. It was mostly an issue in hot weather but it would drop to zero under hard acceleration and start to stumble the carb. Worked better in cooler weather where psi dropped only to 3psi.

I had 1 psi at idle!
