I am wondering if this is garbage or useful tool. Meaning is the device capable of welding or not?? Is this a capacitive weld? The keys and puller is a solid concept but does this type of gun actually work??

Thanks MF

After some more research I just saw some reviews on Amazon on one just like it. Here is the deal. That gun by itself will NOT work. That gun needs a power source. This is just an accessory kit!

This is a complete system. Still a lot cheaper than some of the pro systems and if can hold up to do my car then well worth the money give the amount of dents I have to fix....still wondering if anyone has used one like this?

There's several tools out there that are being advertised but you need a $2,000 unit to make it work. That laser paint stripper comes to mind for one of them. I call bs for trying to deceive someone on the sale of an item like that.

I was watching one of those car shows on Motor Trend just the other night and they were useing one of the tools you are talking about. It was working really good. He was pulling out a dented area with lots of low spots. It was precise and fast the way it worked.

Not sure if anyone has seen Trevs blog. He is on YouTube and is a real craftsman who really takes his time to explain metal fabrication techniques by hand! Here is a link to a very similar system. I thought it cost a lot more but it's also under $300 and it looks very promising. Check out his videos he awesome! I reached out to him to see how the tool is holding up after 6 mos. lets see what he says. I will post back after I hear from him.
Here is his review of the unit:

I have an H&S Stud Welder with attachments and was able to pull low areas of the frame out as well.

We actually use a similar one at the shop. Bought it about 10 years ago and it is used 2-3 times a week. Commercial units were going for about 5K at the time. We paid about a grand for it and its paid for itself time and time again.

I use one daily.. but not the one shown.. the wiggle wire is great for deep creases.. the tabs are ok.. But becareful not to burn holes in the metal from holding the trigger down to long.. also,, you still have to work the metal .. but and make sure you prep the back side burns so they dont start to rust..

you can buy a unispot gun kit .. and buy a tip for wiggle wire, the finger claws and wiggle wire by the pound..

Great tips Slim! Is the unispot gun kit for a unispot spot welder system? I don’t have a spot welder and those look professional and expensive. I have very limited funds and also wondering where those expendables are sold by the pound?
Thanks MF

We use a MAC stud gun at the shop we have had for years.
While its always best to get behind a dent and work it out cold with a pick, hammer , dolly the stud guns are great for hard to reach areas.
The multi stud clamp bars will move some metal :) If you get one just becareful you don't over pull areas, its easy to do. Watch the center areas of large panels , you over pull them you end up with the oil can.
All in all if you got a dinged up car they are a labor saver.

These guys have you on the right track.
get a uni-spotter brand. I had mine forever. use it often and it works..
