What causes tiger stripes in the lawn?

We had an early frost a few weeks ago and since then these weird patterns developed in the lawns around my neck of the woods. Pretty cool, eh? They disappear when the lawn goes fully dormant.

Al the lawns have it. I've seen it before after an early cold snap just before the fall dormancy sets in usually in late October/early November here.

From what I can see on the duddya dubbya dubbya, it seems you have a case of frost damage, and the Bermuda grass is going dormant. It appears to be a temporary condition. Take two aspirin and wait until Spring comes around.

This^^^^. Some grass goes dormant faster then others, this is the result. Enjoy it before the snow fly's!
