Seeing that the enrollment time is here, does anyone use Medicare Advantage? Someone asked me what I thought about it and honestly I have no idea. Im personally happy with regular Medicare , although some of the more pricy prescriptions are not covered.
Other than that I can see any doctor I want without a referral.
Bottom line is be healthy and well but if you need it, its there

You need to speak with experts in the field. A reputable medical provider such as Blue Cross. The zero pay plans provide fantastic coverage. Of course its not free as they take your Medicare medical desuction.

I have a 0 pay Blue Cross Advantage plan and All I can say is why would you not want it?

basic medicare only covers 80% you pay the rest

Sign up for a drug plan because of the 1% penalty per month really adds up. Have a AARP plan not advantage pay about $275 a month. Have a $145 yearly deductible, after that I pay nothing. Advantage plans have copays which is best is personal.

Frank, thank you...I believe my wife has a plan as you described....She has great coverage and her plan picked up what Medicare didn't. She told me we would have to sold the house as the 20percent would have cleaned out any savings...she's had multiple surgeries the last nine years

Your 20% is only 20% of what Medicare authorizes and does not pay.

My wife had some tests done and the hospital charged $1000. Medicare authorized $100 and paid $80. Her insurance paid the last $20. I paid $0. My guess is that the hospital writes off the rest and takes a tax credit. I'[ve seen it time and time again.

If you buy an Advantage plan, they pay Medicare whether you see a doctor or not, but if and when you do, they cover the bill and do not go through Medicare. Advantage plans vary with what is covered and what the monthly fee is. They can be a good deal, but like anything else, you have to read and compare.

What is this “advantage” plan you speak of? Medicare, supplement and RX run almost $400 a month just for me but I pay no money out of pocket anytime. Always looking to knock down the monthly payment but I want piece of mind that I’m covered.

I'm a Chicken! I went with Medicare B, The mid-Priced Prescription Plan D,
and BCBS Plan "F". I'm 66, and my plan B premiums are $134.00/mo.,
Plan D premiums are $32.70/mo., and Plan F premiums are $143.00/mo.
Only deductible is on the plan D. Plan F takes care of all of my deductables
for medical. I'd rather pay than worry. Plan F will not be offered after Jan. 1st.
I believe. If you have it, you're good, but no new sign-up's. That's my story
and I'm sticking with it!

Pretty much the same thing my wife is on. We set down with a S H I P rep and they walked us trough the different options.
My wife got on the plan F also.
She has had some major health issues in the past so we went with a good plan.
Im a couple years behind her. and since F will be gone prob will do plan G Its the same but has a $85.00 deduct.
The advantage plans may be the best for some folks, But I have been through this with my folks and just wanted good coverage and no headaches.

I’ll add, I'm 70 & plan F bcbs $187 started at $108 at 65. By the time I’m 90 it might be more than I get from Medicare. It has paid out around $300,000 in the five years, no way I could have paid that

Plan F is Medigap coverage. It is not a part of Medicare but coverage offered by private insurance companies. It a great plan in areas where the plan affordable.

if anyone is getting close to picking a Medicare plan do your homework. Educate yourself. There are good plans and a ton of bad ones.

Blue Cross/Blue Shield are NOT medical providers. They are an insurance company.
YOUR DOCTORS are medical providers.
