I'm in the market for a floor jack. I see harbor freight carries the Pittsburgh brand. I usually think of their stuff as disposable, but these don't appear too bad. Their upper end models are called, daytonas. And are approx $100- $150 range. Has anyone bought/ used one ? Just curious how they hold up.
 
i bought the low profile one 3 years ago 3 ton and it works good have had no problems
 
I have had a couple name brand expensive floor jacks that didn't give great service. I currently have two horror freight floorjacks, the little $60 aluminum one to take to the track, and the low profile steel one for the garage. Both work fine, had them both for a couple years, no complaints. And it sure doesn't hurt as much to throw one away when that time comes.
 
I've had 2 of their aluminum jacks, for 5, or more years - no problems.

I have the 3 ton Daytona. Its as good as the Snap On 3 ton I have since sold. I would spend a few dollars more and opt for the long reach Daytona.

I saw several daytona models on display, but they all had the same length handle. I'll ask though. Thanks
 
I have a HF 3ton floor jack that was one of the cheaper ones. I have abused it now for over 20 years. And it works perfectly yet. I have used it as a transmission jack and it has been abused and lifted my one ton diesel truck front end and that is heavy. I wouldn't think twice about buying another.
 
Count me in. I have a Pittsburgh 3 ton low profile rapid pump in the fleet of jacks and it's the first one we grab.
It's had the **** beat out of it for 10 years now. Works like a champ.
 
I've also got the 3 ton low profile. Had it for about 4 years now. It's still going strong.
 
Thankyou to everyone for your insight. Guess i'll head to horror freight in the morning. I'm pullin my trans tomorrow, so it will get a test run right away.

I feel like an idiot. I didnt realise its the jacks length thats longer. And not the handle. Never knew. Lol, live & learn.

I guess I didn't realize you needed it for pulling a tranny. I also have the Pittsburgh tranny jack, have used it twice and works well also (manual trannys both times). We use a ratchet strap with it. The bullshit chain rig it comes with is worthless.

Oh it will see a lot of regular car use too. That just happens to be its 1st task. In younger days i didn't even use a jack to drop a trans. :)
 
I have both a Pittsburgh and a Daytona. Both 3 ton, low profile jacks. The Daytona is a long reach also. Used the Pittsburgh for a couple years, and it does OK. But it struggles a bit with my W250 4x4 and my Lincoln Town car. I bought the Daytona last summer, and really love it more. It's about twice the price, but if I could only buy one jack, I would spend the extra $$ for the Daytona.
