Pan dimensions. Been running 7 qts. It has never hurt a bearing. 630 passses and counting.I'm not sure how that would work with 7 quarts especially if its wider at the bottom giving you less oil to cover the swinging pickup. Hard decel will definitely uncover the pickup
I guess only other option would be to use a 3 quart accusing for added protection.
the 1 i have came from indy and was advertised as 8qts in my '63,,is yours going in the car in your avatar? they have 1 thats specifically for the 63-65 cars that the drag link hole is farther back that the later pans..i went back and forth with indy when i bought it to be sure it was the right 1. the latter wont fit.Happy New year to all I’m hoping someone knows the capacity of this particular Charlie’s oil pan thanks
We welded a boss into the kick out area. Then added a factory tube bent to fit. Filled the pan with 6,7,8,9 qts adding one at a time and marked the stick accordingly. With the stock stick location the stick wont even touch the oil level until you have about 8 1/2 qts in the pan. Also the stock stick hits the bottom of the pan. Then it folds across to the passenger side giving a false reading.Dvw, whats a calibrated dipstick? i have the same pan, engine didn't have dipstick.
thanks Doug, will have to try that!We welded a boss into the kick out area. Then added a factory tube bent to fit. Dartari,
how deep does the pan measure?
Mine is 6 3/4 inches deep with the same kick out including one in the rear and 9 quarts was the max I would put in it.. you can include a quart for the filter so 10.
If you can, pull the pan and count how many quarts of water it takes.
Are these pan dimensions for a stock motor location 63 -65 b body?Pan dimensions. Been running 7 qts. It has never hurt a bearing. 630 passses and counting.
