Ahh MarPar life has gotten in the way of things. Elderly parents, driving 100 mi each way to help them out. Just retired from working...not how I wanted to go, but had to make a choice is the juice worth the squeeze? Ole lower back isnt what it used to be..2 back surgeries dont help.
Bright note, I did get some paint on my car last weekend before snow hit..have to wait for spring to paint the top.

I'm in the market for a floor jack. I see harbor freight carries the Pittsburgh brand. I usually think of their stuff as disposable, but these don't appear too bad. Their upper end models are called, daytonas. And are approx $100- $150 range. Has anyone bought/ used one ? Just curious how they hold up.
You get what you pay for rings true. Buy on the cheap and that what you end up with. A Jack is a lifetime purchase, spend the extra and your arms and back will thank you.

I just picked up a Daytona this AM. Long reach, low profile 3 ton. Coupon for $169 this weekend.

Lifted a couple cars today with it, works great.

i've completely abused mine since 2008. lots of use. still going

I've had 3 Harbor Freight jacks. 2 Pittsburgh small aluminum ones and a new 3 ton Daytona. Both Pittsburgh's leaked within a year. Does anyone know if they are rebuildable? I like them for my boat trailers. I also have a Pittsburgh hydraulic press. Same issue, leaks. The bottle jack I believe is rebuildable but might be better off replacing with better quality bottle jack.

My feeling is that despite the stickers, most of them are coming from the same source. That said, I have a HF 3 ton and a HF low profile as well a HF trans jack, cherry picker, several HF long reach air over hyd jacks etc. and have never had any issues with any of them. As it relates to jack stands, hell we used to make them in metal shop as kids and I put a lot of weight on those which were not exactly well made (despite being made in the USA)... LOL

Spend your money where you want, if it makes you feel better to buy "name brand" good on you. I have a limited budget and try and make my money go as far as possible. I have spend probably thousands at HF and don't regret any of it. Yes HF has some crap but you have to think about what you need, how much you are actually going to use it and what you need it to do. HF is a great asset at least for me and I would not hesitate to use most of their stuff.

How many full pumps on the Daytona from zero to full height with no load?

My Daytona 3 ton low profile is 7 pumps from fully down to standing almost straight up.
Was curious about if there was a difference between Pitts and Daytona. I looked at both only minor difference visually. Bought the Pitt I'm cheap. The Pitt is 8 1/2 pumps zero to max height, my Craftsmen around 16 same as a no-name I have. Thanks Hey-O

Harbor Freight sells cheap junk. Paint it anyway you want but its cheap poorly made. The steel is inferior and the welding is poor. If you look closely it obvious.
I have a Walker floor jack my father and I bought used back in the sixties. It had been left outside and abused. We rebuilt it and had the jack rebuilt by a competent hydraulic shop. I still to this day have that jack and I use it.
Id never feel safe and confident under a car supported by HF jack stands.
My father always told me the Japanese were good for copying a product we made and now its the Chineses doing the same thing and turning out poorly made cheap products.
They steal from us, hack things and we reward them by buying their crap
Its now nearly impossible to not buy China garbage but if I can buy USA I try to do it
There are several American made floor jacks worth looking at.
Its not the point of how many pumps it takes to lift a car or how well you think they work.
Ive yet to see any HF product hold up under heavy duty or daily use.

I wouldn't get under a car supported by any jack. Agree HF isn't HQ stuff, but real crap usually easy to spot.

Thanks Steevo, love you bud.
I typically use a three step safety system when I crawl under a car, regardless of brand. Stands, jack, wood blocks. If something fails I won't be totally crushed, just maybe in a little discomfort.
At any rate, I figure being crushed by a car is a far better way to go than cancer.

I bought the green Daytona, low profile, 3 ton floor jack in early December. So far I have been jacking up the car with it every weekend, and it has been working well. Within the past two weeks, the springs appear to be making a little noise when pumping it up. Other than that it has worked and once pumped up holds the car in place.

I also bought a pair of Pittsburg 3 ton jack stands. I have had them under the front frame rails, while the jack stays under the K-frame. I have more faith in the Daytona jack to support the car than I do the jack stands. The stands I think are cheap junk and I will be replacing them... I just don't feel safe at all with these stands..
