Ironbuilts' Jokes

Well it could be worse, I got loads stacking up while I'm waiting on my motor to get built. I'm spending another 30k with nothing coming in. But as a wiseass trucker once said "that's truckin"
:thumbsup::elmer::thumbsup:
Any time frame on getting your truck back? I hope that is the last of your major problems for a while.
From what I am hearing, 2020 is supposed to be a big year. I certainly hope so after the ups and downs of 2019.

At least another week, but I'm ok with waiting. I'm saving 25k having it built in my home shop.

Does the rebuilt engine come with any kind of a warranty? I heard that a platinum reman on my X-15 form Kenworth is $48,000. That's ridiculous. I remember rebuilding a big cam Cummins in my Dad's shop for $5,000 plus labor.

Yes nation wide 2yr 250k,those days are long gone I had an E model cat built for $8900 out the door 20 years ago. MHC wanted 62k to major my engine.

MHC wanted 62k

:jackoff:

MHC keeps calling me to sell them my truck. They have someone that wants it and they said that they will put me in a 2020 at no cost to me, just extending my payments another year. I am tempted, but I told them that I want my payment a few hundred a month lower. They are supposed to get back to me. I'm not holding my breath. The buyer must be willing to shell out quite a bit more than I am asking for them to keep calling me.

Ok but why are you wanting out of your w9 ??

Because when I purchased it, I bought the extended Cummins and drivetrain, but not the chassis warranty. It expired at 100,000 which was last month. If I do sell, I will probably get into a 2020 W9. Although the fuel economy in a 680 is quite appealing. If the numbers aren't to my liking, I will keep my truck. I love it, I just worry not having a warranty.

What did the chassis warranty cover?

Everything except the engine, trans, rears and after treatment. All those are covered until 300,000. What I am worried about is the electronics, like the ECM, CCU etc. I have already replaced the ECM when the truck was a month old. Not to mention all the BS sensors, like ABS, traction control etc.

It was my mistake, I should have purchased the extended. First time buying a brand new truck, live and learn.
I don't know man, all the major expense components are covered. If it was me I think that trying to extend the power train warranty out to 500k would be the way to go. But that's just my opinion.

So you think that keeping the truck long term is better than keep trading it in for new? I value your opinion, as I am new to the truck buying world. The thought of NOT having a payment brings a HUGE smile to my face.

That's why I'm putting a new engine in mine. No payments is the goal. Mine is paid for now, there are benefits to both scenarios the choice of the end result is totally up to what you want.

Are you sticking with the DEF system or deleting it?

I'm gonna keep it till warranty is done, depending on how it runs.
All I have purchased prior to my W9 is used trucks. I had so many DEF related problems and downtime that I am scarred. I would love to keep my W( until it is paid off and get at least one solid year of running without a truck payment.

If it were me I would get that powertrain warranty extended, run it out and that will get you close to having the truck paid for. Then do a complete delete.

Man we had a machine shop that did our motor rebuild s . I think we were charger $10k-18k depending on what motor we sent in . Thank God because I hated huffing those heads . Dude was great he gave a warranty for 300k or 3 years .
I've done tons of motor r&r in the past glad that stuffs behind me .

Yea I'm not working on them anymore. I can make the money back without the grief of doing the work. Besides I'm rather enjoying my time off.
