69 Super Bee Rebuild (my way)

Also the first time I have used TTI's 3 inch exhaust. Definitely a lot tighter than their 2.5 inch stuff. Worst area is the tailpipe to gas tank area on both sides. Ended up bending the flange of my tank for better clearance. Otherwise, it fit real nice. I always cut off the ends and use Accurate tips because I like them better. One note with TTI exhaust is that they don't make the correct rear hanger, so they send a Charger style instead with all their 68-70 B body kits. I got the right ones from Mega.

I also had to bend the gas tank flange to clear the 3" exhaust. Not much room back there.

There sure isn't. Did you insulate your fuel line on the high side of the passenger pipe?

Doesnt seem like much, but this is the first time a steering column has been in the car since I have owned it. Actually it's probably been 30 years since one has been in place on this car.

I did on mine, I also plan to put some on the gas tank next to the tail pipes.

Forgot to take pics of the steering column rebuild except for this one. The car came with power steering sector, but I am not positive that is what it was born with. I like manual steering better, so that is the route I went. Painted them the correct textured black. Ended up with enough pieces to do 2 of them, so I have a spare.

One was good and I bought a new one for the other column, so I should be good. Thanks for asking though.

I was just searching for info on these bearings. Mine is shot in my 68, turning the steering wheel is like nails on a chalk board ! Do you still have this ? Or a part number for me to look up ? Thanks

hunt, did you install mufflers so they will touch the floor or did you leave a little space between floor and mufflers.thanks
You never want any portion of your exhaust touching any part of the body.

Fully agree.

Also, if any exhaust touches the body you will end up with annoying rattles, if nothing else.

Latest trials and tribulations in my world. I installed all the brake lines along with a new proportioning valve before the motor, headers, steering, and torsion bars went in because of course there is no room to work in that area later. Sunday had the wife help bleed the brakes. Went smoothly until I looked under the car on Monday morning and saw brake fluid on the floor. Wet prop valve. Checked everything as best I could to be sure I didnt forget to tighten anything. Called Cass snd he said I probably accidentally loosened the top nut when tightening the top line. So I fought to loosen the uppermost line fitting and then to tighten that top nut. Guess what....it was tight. So after a bunch of swearing and brake fluid all over, I had the valve out. Wouldn't you know there is s defect in the main body at the sealing surface. Sent the pics to Cass and he has a replacement on the way. I had heard about a lot of issues with these valves that were made by Inline Tube, but Cass says these that he sells are from MBM. Anyway he is great to deal with as always and the reason I buy as much as possible from him.

Next issue. Dumped in 6.5 quarts of oil in the new engine. The next day I notice oil on the bottom of my pan. Traced it up to the passenger side valve cover. Called Brian at IMM to ask about the gaskets. He says it didn't leak a drop on the dyno. Sent him the pics of the area and he us calling Mancini to see if there is some special gasket they recommend with there valve covers and Trick Flow heads. He has the good Cometic ones in there now.
