Well the time has come to start the assembly, and wouldn't you know, the rear leafs won't reach the rear shackle mount with the arc in them, MP Part #P3690456 & #P3690457. I know these are for '64-'65 B-Body, but through all the reference, and info gotten from many sources, they should fit using the '63 stock front hanger, not the extended hanger for the later year models. It looks like they may fit with the extended hanger, but I'm concerned this will move the axle back, so it is not centered in the wheel well. I am now looking at MP Part #P3412002 & #P3412003, listed as '68 Super Stock A-Body Hemi springs. The front section is 20", like the originals, but the rear section is 36", 1" longer than the previous mentioned set, and listed for 3000-3200# cars. Has anyone run across this, in this application ? My other option is going to Eaton, and having a set made. My question with that is how much would I want to lift the car to fit a set of slicks inside the wheel well, as they offer 1-3" options over stock ? Posting this pic with the B-Body SS Springs. Any and All info is appreciated, Thanks

Is that photo with weight on the axle? Looks like it's unloaded - as the suspension loads the hanger will become almost vertical and be where it should...

I am no 63 expert but they are listed to have a 20" front segment and a 35" rear

I have the 456/457 springs on a 62 plymouth. ( I think Dodges have a different front segment length than plymouths). I assumed I would need the extended spring hanger, so I installed it. Then I found out I didn't need it, and also that the previous owner had stretched the wheelbase by moving the axle back an inch (more tire clearance at the front of the wheel arch for taller tires.) So, I ended up drilling the extended hangers where I wanted them. I can post some pics in the morning if that helps.

rT, that pic is unloaded. It's just pulled so tight forward, seems like it will ride up against the floor, instead of moving back to where it should be ?

I had the same issue on my Dart. I stuck a long pry bar between the spring eye and the floor to flip the shackle rearward.

You are correct that the 64-65 front hanger will move the axle back. Don't ask me how I know! Did you have to force the shackle in? If not I would install both springs and jack up under the housing and see what starts to happen.

Do you have your original springs on hand? If so put the springs side by side and compare the segment lengths. If the lengths are the same then the springs will fit with the stock hangers.

I put a set of SS springs on my 65 Dodge Coronet. Not positive they're the same as yours! Used 2" extended front hangers, picture is of rear shackle with weight on car. 65's have a 21" front segment so I bought front hangers for 64/65. If I put them on wonder if I'll be in the boat?

I did lay them side by side, and they are the same. I'm guessing we'll need to load them, so they stretch to where they should go. This is my first build that the bottom looks as good as the top, so hammers and pry bars are out, without using proper protection. No quick touch ups with a spray bomb...

I will never ever have a car that looks that good underneath, so excuse my mess. The shots are driver side, location of mounting point and shackle length is to clear the 10.5 slicks to the outer fender. 456/457 springs.

I do have a set of the Mancini SS hanger extensions for the 62-65 dodge. I mistakenly ordered them for my 65 Plymouth. Let me know if you need them?

I bought 3400 lb SS springs from Mancini and told them they were for my 63 Sport Fury. They sent me the right ones as they bolted right on with no problem. One thing I noticed is they are the same size springs as the SS springs we have on my sons 72 Dart. I believe the 63 is different then the 64 & 65. This is how my shackles are with the car on the ground. They work fine and the car hooks fine at the track. Ron

Ron, do you know if those were the A-body SS springs ? I matched my originals up to our Duster, with MP SS springs, and they looked like a match. I was concerned they would be soft for a B-body, so I went with the 456 & 7s. I'm working it now from a different angle, so I'll update as it happens, Thanks for the info...

Well they are the same size as the Dart A-body. They were rated at 3400 lbs so I guess if you wanted a 3400 lb spring for an A-body you would get the same spring. As they are rated by weight of the car. Good luck ,Ron

My 63 rides great on them springs and here is how it sits with them. Ron
