Team,

So the MN GOld project is wearing her original paint and the color is amazing everywhere but the rusted quarters, obviously. What I'd like to know is what process mopar used, primer, paint and application. I'd like to keep her as a survivor....but also brighten up the clear. Small scale paint job , maybe? The cool thing is that the trim-line of the car may help to blend new paint with old....

Brighten up the clear? It has clear coat on it? What year are we talking about?

1967 Gold Coronet 500 convertible.

You can get the paint in single stage original mix, but I would do a mild cut and buff on the original paint and do a spray out to match that. It may not be exact, but as you say may blend at the body lines or style lines.

.....but the patina? (lol.....no, kidding.)

I guess I was taking a lot of granted. I assumed the paint on the rest of the car was basically good. Pictures are in order to see what you are looking at and/or for. I know a guy that is pretty good at creating patina. He flips cars, by making them look a lot better than they actually are, but I have no use for that kind of work. To me that's where you get the terms flipper, sheister, and used car salesman. Patina is great and some like things that way. If the car needs restoration, then that's the way I go. I have seen many cars in the so called survivor class that obviously were in my opinion a scam. I know they can only be original once, and I like the idea, but original means original to me. Sorry I can't help more. I hope this doesn't offend you and I may be totally wrong, it's just my opinion. I would rather present a car as one repaint than try to cover it up.

....no worries at all. The car is wearing all its original paint and for the most part, its dull and worn is a few spots....I'll add some pics

Thanks for the pictures. From what you are showing in the pictures. IMO I would do what I said in my first post. Even with a mild buff the patina is going to stay, and only be a little brighter. Matching your paint to the to the look after the buff will keep it about the same shade. If everything needing repair is below the trim, you are in really good shape. If you are worried about the patina below the trim, add a few light scratches if it suits you. The Nick's and scratches in the original paint will not totally go away with the light buff. By the way it looks like a nice project, I like the 67's.

I'm taking this one a lot slower that the others I've done. Its more like a time capsule. Sucker is fighting me on the rusty bits.....but one piece at a time, its coming back to life. I need to organize my garage a bit.....but seems to be plenty of room so far.

Neat car, I can see it is a 383 4bbl and it has tinted glass - does it have A/C ?

Is it a 4-speed or Auto?
Just curious, I own a '66 Coronet 440 convert, 383 4bbl/727. Mine has tinted glass also but no A/C (special order) DO you know how were built? ('67)

Automatic car, and still looking for the build sheet.

Whatever you do don't break those quarter windows - very hard to find tinted ones . . .

Mini tubs, a 450 horse engine, a good trans and go have some fun! :D

Started the seat tear down , got some good progression pics . Note the manufacturer stamp on the foam on the buckets
