One summer back in the '60's I walked into a local bank and asked for a two dollar bill. Gave the teller a bunch of change and off I went. Still have it somewhere around here.

I paid a moving vehicle violation using $2 bills in the early/mid 1970s. It was priceless seeing the court clerk's confusion/frustration as she tried to find a place in the till for them. Eighty-eight $2 bills.

My great uncle used to pay for everything with $2 bills and dollar coins ! He once had a birthday party on a river cruise after food was done he went and put a $2 bill on each table as a tip ,the people were excited to get such an odd item I don't think they realized there tip actually sucked !
I'm fairly certain the gratuity was included but who knows!

I have a few still around here .
Another odd one someone donated pre 30's silver certificate dollars to our cruise in once !
The girls just scratched there heads and asked if anyone wanted to trade for them as it was just going to the bank so I swapped for them there not worth a ton but better then a $1 .

We still had two dollar bills in Canada until we switched to a $2 coin. But back in the '80's I moved out west and never saw a two dollar bill. I asked someone why and the reply was that many years earlier votes had been bought with two dollar bills and if you were seen with one you were perceived to have been "bought" and that perception lived on.

I have one folded up in my wallet that was given to me years ago, keepsake.

I have a few uncirculated 1976 issue 2's.

The OP shows a silver certificate IIRC.

The PO used to give stamp machine change in SBA or Sacajawea dollars.

I used those to either pay for postage or toll roads.

Clerks DO NOT like anything that doesn't have a spot in the drawer.

For the PO- if you can't take it, don't dish it out.

I don't like toll roads, so I don't care about troubling them.

Look at the pic on the front.
It's Buddy Ebsen.
The pic on the back-every person is wearing a hat, save one.

Back when I was an electrician there was a scrap yard that I always took my copper scraps to, they advertised locally and stated they would take any scrap and pay you in $2 bills... and they did...

What part of 'out west' was that? We had lots of $2 bills around here, I've never heard about that voting rumour.
