Here’s why car thefts are soaring

Not correct Steve there was a guy on the Honda form I belong to that found out the hard way. left his fob in the car, got out and filled the tank. Then went in side for something. Came back out to find the car had locked him out. At midnight in the middle of the desert 100 miles from no where. Dummy left his cell phone in the car also.

Ok I stand corrected but I guess I’ve been doing the smart thing as when I fill the tank I always leave the window partially open
Not that I always do smart things lol

Why are the people not just putting the fob in their pocket? :BangHead:

Why are the people not just putting the fob in their pocket? :BangHead:

I see people that leave their cars RUNNING. That alone is so wrong on so many levels but yet it happens and no one thinks anything of it...

Last year Tampa had a rash of guns being "stolen" from unlocked vehicles in people's driveways.

??!!??

What the **** kind of gun owner leaves their weapon in an unlocked car over night?

Seriously, what the ****????

Guess it is a hard thing to do but it may pay to read the owners manual. I was surprised to find out many new car do not come with a spare tire anymore either.
We rented a new Compass this fall and key fob was one of the things covered before entry. Yes carrying the fob at all times was covered.

Newest car of mine is an '01. Back then cars still relied on actual keys to function; fobs were an option. The more advanced we get, the more inept we become...

While I agree with everyone on here about locking your car, WHY is the MEDIA and LAW enforcement NOT blaming the Criminal FELONS who they keep turning loose to PREY upon us Law abiding Citizens???

It seems to me that to cover their ***'S and to BLAME the VICTIM for the Criminals BEHAVIOR is just more fake news to convince the PEOPLE that it is there fault??????
Trust me, law enforcement are not ones that keep turning felons loose. That’s the liberal, douchebag judges that usually get appointed by the Governor.

Yes yes, fob always stays on my person. Car will not start without it sensing the fob IN THE CAR
and if you lock the car when leaving it, it won't let anyone back in unless the driver has the fob
and has activated the doors first.
If you leave the car with the fob while it's running, it disables...won't go anywhere, shuts down.
The whole thing works great, as long as you USE the system the way it's intended - which of course,
idiots don't.

All that said, I still hold PEOPLE accountable for their actions.
If you're a stinking no good thief, I don't care how easy folks make it for you - YOU choose to steal
other peoples' property and all the blame lies with you.
Fry their asses...

these folks are breeding and voting.
As it turns out, that's true - "welfare state" folks are blowing away the more self-responsible types
of society in reproducing by a large margin. There's several studies on that phenomenon available online...

Just buy a car with a manual transmission; problem solved...
Decent amount of truth there...
At first when Fred became a car again, I'd fret and worry about even walking away from him at a local
show and would "hover" the whole time, worried someone would steal the car if I left it alone...
A few conversations with people at the cruise-ins set me at ease, however - basically, the younger ones
always often wanted to know how the stick shift worked or just flat out voiced their opinion that they hated
the things.
Heck, Fred is surly enough even for someone who sort of knows how to drive a stick - between manual
EVERYTHING and the certain way you have to start him, to the heavy-assed clutch, most folks would have
a hell of a time pulling away in him.
Best theft deterrent for an older car, really - the manual transmission. :)

Try to find a new vehicle with a manual transmission today.
Agreed, although my brother did go to the trouble to buy his new Challenger R/T with the stick.
It actually took his local dealer a while to find one in the system, in fact.

My '15 renegade will relock the door(s) if you only unlock the driver's door (configurable- one push of remote button) and do not start the car within 30 seconds.

However, if you unlock all doors (again configurable, second push of remote), they will remain unlocked.

You can also configure whether or not the horn honks, and if so on which push (I have it on the second push to lock, so I can "stealth lock" or get confirmation), and whether or not the lights flash.

I've been a deputy sheriff for 31 years, I've read alot of good post and they are spot on! If you want to know what the problem is with the justice system just go to your local courthouse, after they lift covid restrictions and set in the audience, watch and listen ! It's amazing !

It is sad to see what the riff-raff is getting away with.Fleeing,no insurance, registration, inspection or licence gets community service??? BULLSHIT!

At least the smart ones will have the fob with them and the doors locked.
On my Durango the doors lock at 20 mph with the fob in the car when you're driving it, but, you can't lock the doors with the fob in the car when you get out of it. The horn honks twice and the car unlocks the doors. All these new car are computers on wheels.

May I back up and say that the guys on the street are not who I was talking about...... Its the "leaders" where the problem lies, and lets not forget its the FAKE Media blaming the car owners saying this, so who knows????
Cool,, all good. I’ve seen it first hand,, just about done with it too.
