Who has run 273 rockers on there 360?

So I primed and turned engine over and primed and I didn't get no gusher like with stock rockers. I did this for over an hr. Many rotations of the engine. I got little trails from top hole, some of the rear holes oiled(not all) some dripped underneath. I even pulled one rocker shaft off to make sure oil holes where clean and clear. Do these rockers Just not use alot of oil or what? Almost makes me want to clearance my stock rockers and throw them in with some stock length pushrods. I don't see it oiling any better and i don't want burn up a new engine. This was also with 75-85 psi oil pressure. Is this normal or is something wrong?

I have to ask: are the shafts oriented correctly? Have they been cleaned out? You can always pull the assemblies and check oil flow through the cylinder head .

yes orientated correctly.. notch is down on both and to rear on passenger side and front on driver side.. i have also cleaned all oil holes in shafts and rockers.. when i put factory rockers on here i get plenty of oil flow..

No, he means did you take out the freeze plugs in the end of the shafts and clean out all of the **** and goo?? Just poking around the oil holes does nothing.

Whenever I clean engine parts from the 70's and earlier, almost every bolt hole, passage nook & cranny is filled with this grey pasty goo due to the awesome oil we had back then.

Remove the freeze plugs, clean out real good with a brush of some sort. Machine shops have these, but maybe a shotgun cleaning kit would work too (size). It will get nasty, but needs to be done. After that, the freeze plugs go back in and use some green sleeve retainer Loc-Tite PN#620 or 640 on them. Freeze plug Pioneer PN# EPS-162 (5/8" Shallow) or Dorman PN#555-011 or another equivalent. Don't drive them too far in, just to the inner edge of the chamfer.

No, NEVER reuse freeze plugs. Always replace them once removed. Why would you risk destroying you motor for a few dollars on 4 freezeplugs...

I do this all of the time, and you would be surprised how many are just plain old plugged up with grey snot...

Out of curiosity are you using shafts similar to what the factory used with those rockers (banana-grooved)?
