Aside from weight...which would you use and why in a sub 500 HP 383 street/ocassional track full interior 69 B with 727, 3.23 or 3.73 (i have both) and a 28" tire.
Im not going stroker..so its one or the other.

Well, only judging by pics of the trw on ebay.... the trw is obsolete, i could only find them in standard bore, the dome looks like about 12 to 1, entirely unsuitable for a street motor, and they are heavy.
So, a toss-up.... NO!
New icon all the way, because opposite of all the things mentioned for the trw.
For me, mostly for lighter. Forged are for hiperf, hi rpm,or power adder motors, all of which work better with lighter modern pistons.

I agree-Icons. And if you want more than 500hp, the extra compression of the 2293's will help get there. But yeah, they're heavy.

The TRW's are bit heavy, but they hold up really well. Decide on what CR you really want. I have run the 440 TRW's for thousands of runs. They do the job. Lighter weight is nice but...

No question in my mind the ICON 687..... very simply because without a known Cylinder Head or Fuel ? But given predominantly "street".....
then,
I will assume Cast Iron Heads and 91 Octane Pump Gas ?

Wherein all the higher dome L2293's (22CC Dome ?) will do is detonate the fuel under the iron heads..... Compression is too high !
That said...
the much 'lighter' ICON is also FREE Horsepower = NO Brainer !

Lighter is always better. Quicker revs, less stress on the rotating assembly.

I should have been more specific..lol..i know better..

Eddie 84cc..will be 80cc after clean up and yes...must be pump gas friendly. Performer RPM..and adjustable rocker gear.....im open on hydraulic or solid cam...so a good chunk of compression can be given up to a later closing intake valve. Also planning on eagle h beams. Converter is expected in the budget too.

Its not even a cost issue...the trw slugs are 300 bucks and NOS... with rings, pins, and locks..the Icons are 550 with rings..so basicly same money

I have nothing against trw's, ive got 2295s in mine, but i seriously doubt that dome on the 2293s and an 80cc head will be any kind of pump gas friendly. E85, maybe.

I also have a pair of fresh 906s...but im thinking the Icons with the eddies will make more power...agreed?

So say we all?

Agreed
Are the low deck eagle rods available still?

Lets see, a detonating 12 to 1 iron head motor with 225 cfm heads, and the timing pulled back a bunch, or a 10 1/2 to one aluminum head motor with 280cfm heads, and proper timing. Hmmmm.

Probably the Icons. But you really need to decide what parts, what compression ratio you want, and then do the math. My guess is the 687 wins.

Lighter is good, but honestly, the old heavy slugs just dont bother the 383 that much with its relatively long rod and short stroke. The TRWs will go 7500 rpm on a factory rod in a 383. And you can mill the dome down to 0.160" if they are still the same as the old old ones.

I would not be afraid to use the 2293s. But in the end, I' not sure there is a good reason to use them either.

The lite weight piston is a good thing. But if you are not planning on RPM over 6500, the TRW's will be fine. The choice really gets down to what CR do you want with the heads you choose.
