R134a refrigerant... damn new EPA self sealing cans!

Just checked, my license was issued 3/17/92.... I have my own recovery machine & a refrigerant identifier..

I just looked my CFC license has no date just my interprovincial number only good in Canada

R134 hit new vehicles in 1993... Dupont's patent was good for twenty years... 2013.... R134 was found to be "Ozone Depleting" around 2012 so it needed to be phased out.... R1234 came out around 2015... When do you think it will be found environmentally unsound???? As I've said many times, it's all about being green, the green movement... Moving from yours & my bank account into the bank account of someone who's learned to play the game...
Funny isn't it. And R134 came in after the patent ran out on the original Freon R12.

What the hell is a freon card?
Universal or lower ( depending on tonnage) EPA refrigeration certification card. Required to buy refrigerant in most areas. The little 134a cans may be exempt. Also is required to reclaim and recycle old refrigerant.

Interestingly enough now that R-22 is going away in favor of R410 in residential and commercial units, R410 is due to be phased out in 2024!

My card is from 1992. I remember the fit my father threw when he was notified that we needed to purchase a Freon recycler and attend a class to be certified. I don't remember the exact cost, but I do know that Snap On really knocked him in the head for the recycler/vacuum machine.

Mine was $5500... As much as I hated to buy it getting caught doing A/C work without it is a $10,000 per incident fine.. And yes they will go through your repair orders looking for A/C work & fining the shop $10K per....

That's insane, but I lived in NJ and nothing they do surprises me.
