1967 Hemi GTX, what would be the correct fan blade. It currently has a 4 blade fan. Last weekend I was out to a show and ran into a fair amount of slow moving traffic, very hot out. Thought it was going to overheat, really close, as soon as I got moving temps come right down. So I'm wondering if the 4 blade fan is correct. If anyone has what I need send me a pm,
Thanks Dan

Correct or best??? Best, always a 7 blade. And a shroud.

There are three options listed....
2265034 4 blade 18" 66-early 67 426 Hemi Probably the one on your car...
2585375 7 blade 18" 67 426 Hemi w/CAP CAP = Cleaner Air Package AKA California Emissions
2843225 7 blade 18" 67 426 Hemi w/CAP

If I were you I'd hang on to the 4 blade but find a 7 blade direct drive fan or a 7 blade thermal clutch fan & run that...

I just measured it , it is indeed a 18 inch 4 blade, so it's probably correct. Whats your thought on a Derale 18 inch 6 blade?

Probably fine but personally I'd try to find a Mopar OE seven blade so it would have the proper "Look", most folks would never notice.... An aftermarket 6 blade fan chances are 50% of the Mopar heads at a show might pick up on.... Then again you have the correct original so who cares what people might know...

I’m unsure what a hemi had, did it depend on the trans auto or 4 speed? I’ve seen the 4 blade fan on them 66-67.

The 67 GTX 440 auto had a sold 7 blade.
The 67 GTX 440-4 speed had a clutch fan.

See, If I were smart I'd have bought that fan & re-listed it as the holy grail "Hemi" fan... I'm sure it's worth $500.....

About overheating in traffic... in my '66 Plymouth FSM there is a paragraph dedicated to driving in traffic and how to bring the temp down. In essence, put the car in neutral and increase RPMs. Funny that Chrysler would handle overheating in this manner rather than addressing the problem. Then again I'm looking at 55 year old technology and coolant formulas.

I wound up after a lot of experimentation with my '68 GTX (there's a thread on here of mine
somewhere) of going whole hog - bought a Griffin "Exact Fit" aluminum radiator ($$$) and
utilizing a new factory shroud for 26" radiators, along with a direct drive 7-blade fan like
others have said.
I could not use any viscous coupling type fans because there was not enough room - the
Griffin is FAT. Even the "Jaguar" shorty fan clutch wouldn't work...
Wound up direct drive with the big fan (bought from Summit) and a 1.5" spacer, which got
the fan blades half in/half out of the shroud.
It works quite well overall, although I'd still like some auxiliary cooling for stop/go situations...

The only thing I haven't done is try the Flowkooler water pump:

That's definitely on the future WANT list, though. It will happen eventually.

My 66 Satellite came with a 4 blade. Wonder if BS or fender tag would tell you if a clutch fan was sold as an HD cooling option? I run a 7 blade clutch fan, 4 blade is on the shelf.

I've got an Entropy 2 row 1.25" rows aluminum in my 496. Direct drive 11 blade 19" nylon fan from 8.1 chevy truck, factory shroud, flowkooler, and 2 bottles of water wetter w a 50/50 mix and 180 t-stat. Idles at 219° w a/c on in 123° ambient weather for 10 minutes. Cruises on highway at 186-194.

My Belvedere has the 4 blade fan and seems to work well. It's an A/C car and has the 26" radiator and an 'all encompassing' shroud. I did, however, have the radiator re-cored as a 3 core replacing the original
2 core.

See, those temps are just too high for my comfort zone....might be ok, but not for me.
I'm sort of paranoid about cooking engines.
DANG, 123F!!!

Agree. Sometimes correct isn't always better. Using a 7 blade with clutch and shroud will keep the "sorta" factory look while improving cooling.

Well just a little info on how the t-stat works. Some 60's Mopars came factory 195 n some 180. A 195 "starts" to open at 195 and completely open at 210. 180 "starts" at 180 n fully at 195. 210-220 at idle w a/c in extreme heat is normal. When it is in the high 80's here, it idles at 198 for an hour. Here's where the needle is at 219°. No boil over, no puking once turned off etc.. no clattering or dieseling when shut off.
