What would you pay for this 440 & parts?

There are a lot of worthless parts there that add to the bulk. Flex fans $5-$10 bucks if you are lucky, log manifolds, scrap iron, etc. Off hand core block, and transmission, aluminum intake, are what you are buying and may keep. The crank is a toss up, but looks great but remember that's just a picture.
Just don't get sucked in and pay to much. I can go on, but it is a bulk purchase.

not to mention time and effort are worth something, actually a lot....... travel to pick up, sort thru the crap, clean up what you want to sell, list it on line, find a buyer, get paid minus the fees, pack up individual items for shipping, transport to the shipper, deal with any complaints..... heavy and/or large items aren't worth the cost of shipping and must be dealt locally

we here are in a small bubble..... in reality, there is no real demand for most of these items...... search out a steel crank block, they made a bazillion of them

He didn’t get me the casting number on the heads. I think he was confused about what I was asking for.

What do you think of the deal after looking at the block better and the casting numbers Jerry? The casting number seems to be from 66-72 440s. I am not sure if those motors were all steel crank or not. Thanks

I completely understand what you are saying. It would be a lot of work, and I am not sure if it would be worth it. That is why I wanted to ask you guys for your more informed opinions. Thanks for the help.

That’s a bunch of stuff that will sit forever. I tried selling my 904 and it was listed for almost a year and I gave it away at 75 dollars when I finally just needed it gone
I’ve seen 727s sit for even longer.

if you plan to use that stuff I guess but as far as selling, good luck

60 over lowers my expectations, but I will stand with my original price. If you need or want some of the items you may value them for more. Add up the value on the parts you want and pay no more for the rest of it.

You guys are right. 60 over is concerning. I think the other stuff would be hard to sell. I will look for something else. Staying patient.

Now the seller is saying that the cylinders are measured to be the standard bore of 4.32, and not bored 60 over. He says he got this engine confused with another one of his that is 60 over. Obviously this needs to be taken with a grain of salt. What do you guys think now with a supposedly stock bore size and the HP stamping? Considering it is a cast crank motor. Thanks guys.

How far away is he? If close enough take cash and a truck or trailer. Measure the bore and eyeball the rest. A good rebuildable 440 core motor goes for 500 on up.

Measure or get the block measured. Get it magged if standard and same for the heads. Lots of pieces to sell off for some dough. Me personally, I wouldn't use the reciprocating items. Boot them for a stroker. If the block is more than 30 over, the price dwindles quickly.

Look for stock motor. That way it dose not need to be bored too far. Went 20 over on a stock 383 to clean it up. Paid 400 plus shipping 150. My crank had one bearing race in bad shape. Motor guy said they rode the clutch. So had to find another one. Adding that 10 thou. over on the crank. All being said got almost 6 grand in the motor. New connecting road-valves and seat's. New cam. Lifters- push rods-Piston's. Ring set. It went on and on. So when getting part's like old with out having someone magnaflux the block and head's. You are looking at a risky buy.

He is not too far away. I am figuring that with the other parts, I could recuperate some of my cost. I agree with the measuring to help verify its condition.

The seller bought the 440 to rebuild it and put it in his son's 74 Charger. They tore it down to rebuild it from the bottom up I believe. I do not know about big beam rods and matching balancer. Are those items special?
