Just in the planning stages of building a new stroker 440 six pack for the Bee.
Was thinking of a kit from Muscle Motors but heard they may have shut down. (Will call to confirm).
Now thinking Scat or Molnar.
Any recommendations from others as to parts, stroke, size, pistons, rods or anything else?
Looking to be able to run pump gas and will be using a Six Pack intake and 452 heads. (4 speed)

Scat and Molnar are great choices for rotating assemblies. If you want the most out of your build consider getting some Trick Flow or Edelbrock heads. Those 452's will limit your builds performance potential. 440'

Thanks.
Original six pack car do I’m trying to at least look original.

If that's the case consider some 906 heads then. They have open combustion chambers but should flow better than those 452's. 440"

Use a source kit 4.250 stroke. I’d recommend a set of “ported” stealths to keep the stock look but have a weight and hp advantage. Keep it 10.5:1, and put a decent .600 lift cam in it and call it a day. I run a 511 six pack in my road runner. It’s an absolute beast for a pump gas street car.

You better order your parts ASAP. Most suppliers are out of parts. Ordered a Eddy rpm intake 3 months ago. Still don’t have it. Eddy heads are out 3-4 months

I used a Ohio Crankshaft stroker kit for my 493. It has been well over 10 years now, all is good.

I was going to use 906’s but I talked to the guy that’s going to do the head work and he said 452’s would be a better choice.

I’m actually 2 years early. My sons going to build it in 2 years as his senior project for school. I figured if I started now I might have everything in time.

We run a 4.25" 510 with 452 heads, Also a 542 with 346 heads. Both billet cranks. We have a flow bench and the 346 and 452s respond well to porting
For SURE it is cheaper to buy aluminum heads then the countless hours grinding and flow testing. We would have to spend some time porting edelbrocks or stealth to perform with our iron heads... but aluminum is WAY easier to port. It takes 3 or 4 times longer to do the iron head. If your paying someone:eek:

We generally don't buy stroker engine parts as kits but assemble them. Its my understanding Molnar is one on the better quality cranks and rods sets but if your not making 700hp it is not really necessary. Eagle, 440 source, Ohio crank and others are more than capable. About ten years ago the cheaper brands were lesser in quality but over time have bridged a lot of the quality gap. We have had good luck with eagle and scat rods and cranks.

440 Source kit is great for the street/strip style build. My only issue so far is the "balancing". Next time I'd have my shop do the balance work instead of Source. Otherwise good deal. If not, it would be a Molnar crank for me.

I hope not. I’ve had one on the shelf for many years. Hope it checks out ok.
Have it magged before buying a single thing. Just in case it's got a crack. I'm on block three and still not out of the machine shop yet on my 400/470 build. Just painful.

Just putting it out there , have a few that need new homes.

Muscle Motors is out of business. I think they are growing pot and taking care of elderly parents last I herd. No reason to use factory heads these days if you’re not a serious racer in a class that requires them. Plenty of quality stoker kits, the weak link is the block. You are at a crossroads. If you don’t have a known good factory block; you’re either going to get lucky or spend a lot of money.
