What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Got rid of another box load of #1 Son's computer stash and after a week + of steady work I finally have the basement almost cleaned out to get started on drywall mud, then prime, paint, ceiling (already picked up grid and tiles @ 4 friggin grand) and have the $4700 in flooring ordered. Sure gonna cut into my car part budget for a while... would have been a lot cheaper if I'd done this 26 years ago like I was supposed to!

Installed a new F70 Yamaha on my old Whaler. Been wanting a new outboard for years, took six months for it to arrive.
Dad is 79 and can still fix anything. Does most of the work on my Charger!

More swearing... after tearing out all the bypass valves and making sure they move smooth, no broken springs, new filters and 90 bucks worth of oil I actually have a machine that moves and everything works for the first time in a decade... and I don't know if it's what I did or the fact it's now leaking from somewhere behind the pressure control valve. Now I have to tear the return filter assembly out of the way so I can get the damn control valve off. Sounds like a job for Spring... back to Granma's Day Car Center...

Monday rolls around and you never know who you're gonna be, this week I'm the burner tech. 2 furnaces, a water heater, 3 power venters and 3 oil filters serviced. Then the reminder of why shows up. The last time I had a Burner Service here, for a 10 year inspection sign off so I could get oil delivery, he stated "I'm not opening them up, if you've kept them running for 26 years I can't do better than that!

Waited for my wife to GET IN THE CAR.
Still am, so it seems like all day already.

Fixed two shop extension cords that were getting hot at the male end. Had no idea how bad they were. Also cut off one spring pad from another rear end job. First time to grind one off. It took me 30 minutes and will use my plasma cutter on the other one to see which one is faster. Think I already know......

Working on a daily driver Dakota count? After new fenders, rust-free box, all the hours of prep then getting paint…putting it back together, I decided to buy a fender flare kit I bought thru Amazon to change it up some. Well wdf, in all my years can’t recall anything so totally fucked up. The instructions are a pathetic conversion from gina to English with b&w photos that had more resolution in the 1930’s. After mega-hours trying to figure this friggin fiasco out, and sleeping on it, ready to send the entire bullshit works back. Yeah right: Install part # this into part # that and find NO way it’s possible…kind a like insert a 1/4” screw into a push nut for a 1/8th screw. ‘S’ clips that are to be placed in some BS manner that looks like **** and reverse them = an impossible install…add the flare doesn’t sit flush to the fender. Ok, one more night sleeping on this and done.

What kind of a flare kit did you buy? Had a factory flare kit on a 2000 Durango but it was a simple screw on thing that was on it from the factory. Actually, it was installed with those dang push in things.....kain't remember what they are called. Mostly what they did was collect dirt and I'm sure they collected a lot more than dirt up in the rust belt.....

Lol, I wanted a kit that didn’t require drilling and will have to get back to you on the mfg. Nada a hint in the instructions or the box it came in. Have to go back to the order link I’m set to do tomorrow to send this crappola back. You’re spot on with these being a nest for rust-belt salt, slush, and moisture; but liked the ‘look’ to change it up some and do a flush out during washing. My old fenders were so rusted to chit was no way to mount them. Longer story; but my Dakota is a Laramie model with AWD and numerous options with 83k on it. After pricing out new and newer Dodge trucks (I always was Dodge stout last three trucks) even though I could fork out for one, just like my old Dakota. Hell, pay 35k+ for a newer Ram with nowhere near the options and like 25k miles less than mine? I’ve put in about 5K after paint in mine. Expect this could be the last truck I’ll need now retired. Well, I have the SS fender trim the truck had on it and looks like I’ll clean those up and reinstall. No flares for me.

More I stare at this stupid kit more I see how I could make it work on the front by drilling holes in the flares to mate with the factory holes just attaching to the inner wells; but drilling holes in the box wells is necessary whether I install them or the old trim, since the box I got didn’t have trim package my truck had. Still, lol, I’m peeved about what a BS install these flares are.

Finished the desk I built for our daughter. The top is maple hardwood flooring, I did the floor with and a piece of marble.

She told me what she wanted and I just follow orders!! LOL. Built the walls and then filled in the space.

A few weeks ago I finished building my shop. It's in my walk out basement and is 16x16. It's totally separated from my house, studded, plastic wrapped and osb that is chalked and painted. A blower discharges the air out of the room while pulling in fresh outside air. It's heated separately and the door to the room is an exterior house door to make sure it's sealed bag tight.
