I'm finally getting ready to start my Superbird stock car project. I have been buying parts for the last year and can't wait to get started. The plan is to put the 70 Satellite body on the late model nascar chassis.

Removed the body off the Nascar today. Now need to remove bunch of tubes and dash.

I have some vintage nascar Hemi stuff, bathtub manifold and carb, 2 alternator . I think I might have a pair of tubular uprights for the wing, If your interested.

Not going to be running a Hemi. The uprights I will have to make do to using late model Nascar chassis. Thanks anyway

Needed to add 11" to the wheel base to match Superbird.

Wonderful project indeed!

When they call them 'stock cars' its makes me laugh...

Diff pumps and trailing arms, very stock indeed...

Pete Hamilton is the coolest Nascar dude ever!

I am C-500 fan myself and this is my future project.
Just got to find an old Nascar chassis lol...

Damn fine work Sir, damn fine! Will watch this thread. Very ambitious.

Needed to make room for the two kids racing seats in the back. Also didn't like where the rear hoop ended up. Looks much better now where it's at. Just need to cut out the rear floor and relocate coolers.

Great Job!
I give you credit for putting seats in the back for the Kids! My '72 Petty Charger is still on the rotisserie as an abolute shell! So you're a lot further along than me.Hopefully I will be retired within the next month and I can relly get moving!
The Kirkeys are nice but I just have a pair of black and blue Craigslist buckets for a $100.
I'm still wondering how the Pettys got
426 CI out of a 440? Did they sleeve the blocks or what? I have a 440 block if its not too costly! Like you said I haven't won the lottery yet! My other option is I have a 383 with a ton of spare performance parts. Maybe get a RB crank and stroke it into a 426!?!????? Any/all feedback greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rick

Truly Brilliant work indeed!

My favourite Mopar is the 71 Petty Plymouth.
I remember seeing a nice original one at the Van Nuys Spring Fling some ten years ago.

Several ways to go with the 426 thing for the later wedge engine.

Just get a 413 block, 'cheap as chips' and bore it plus 60.

Sleeve down a 440 block probably around $600/$700.

Or de-stroke a 440 crank with 2.200 Chevy rod...
4.320 bore x 3.640 throw is 426ci
4.350 bore x 3.585 throw is 426ci also

Whatever way you go, no one is gonna know lol...

Even Tricky Dicky likes it too lol!
