1964 Dodge 440

My bumper MIGHT be in North Dakota. He asked me if that was close and if I could just drive over to get it if I was close.. LOL

Says he'll have a solution tomorrow. He called the guys in North Dakota and the young lad said the bumper looked really nice... meaning they've unwrapped it, but the actual owner wasn't there to know if they did or didn't get the correct bumper. If they have mine they'd better wrap it back up as secure as the got it before the resend, as I didn't even pull the foam off "theirs" knowing it was wrong as soon as I saw the shape wrapped in foam !
It's probably only a couple thousand miles...
Each way..

Exactly what I told him... "about 2000 miles"! Starting to think this old guy is only allowed to use the phone on Fridays...

..just letting it roll as I REALLY want this bumper. The tracking number he put on Ebay has never been picked up, so I'm in a 100% refund position no matter what the outcome. You have 6 months with Paypal now...

I hope it all works out quickly for you but if for some reason it doesn't you may want to call the guys at Tri-city. They had good cores to use for both front and rear bumpers for my 64' Polara . I think i paid$ 600-650 shipped using their front bumper core about 1 1/2 years ago.Nice work also.

Yeah, those are the guys! Thanks for the correction on the name.
Those guys are pretty good, i had them do all the stuff on my 64' that wasn't pot metal. For pot metal parts i used R&D plating right down the street from them in the same town. Their work was also excellent but hold on to your wallet for pot metal chroming.

YEP, appears a little shipping label SNAFU and not gonna be fun I'm sure straightening this mess out. Don't even know how much UPS nailed me for on Brokerage while collecting the 13% on value, as the sneaky buggers just mail you the bill a month later these days...
Well ten days later and I got my invoice from UPS. $116 in brokerage and handling fees to collect $50.40 in taxes for our Guberment, total of $166 and change.

Sent two messages the past week and another last night asking wth is going on with the SNAFU and advising him the only thing new is the UPS bill for a bumper I can't use. He called today and I just got off the phone with him. My bumper is indeed in North Dakota and he's going to try and get them shipping documents/etc tomorrow and then the same for me so that we can exchange "gifts". Told me his reputation is worth more than losing money and he's covering all the shipping and promised if I get dinged a second time by UPS for brokerage and taxes he'll reimburse me.. now we wait again and back to sanding drywall..

Good news and it’s going to work out in the end.

Amazed I got another call from the seller this morning at 8:30 AM. That's 5:30 at his end and he'd already called the guy in North Dakota that has my bumper.. bet he appreciated that call at 6 or 7:30 there! He's on board to get my bumper packaged back up, the seller is sending him a shipping label and customs documents to get my bumper coming to me. I'll rewrap the '61 Ford bumper I have and wait for a shipping label to send it to North Dakota the day mine is delivered here.

Glad it’s working out. I’m not far from North Dakota, North side of the fence sort of but that’s no help to you. You should see a bumper this year so that’s great!

Thankfully I didn't fully unwrap it, unlike mine in ND where some kid did.

Waiting for my UPS label and shipping documents. I'm holding it hostage until I know mine has been shipped...

Buddy of mine in Massachusetts tipped me off to a guy with an untouched in 40 year collection of NOS parts. Beautiful new mirror for a 100 bucks. Thanks RC !

Side by side comparison.

New one on the car, now the eyes go to the **** paint...

First thing I actually noticed when loading the car. One high beam is a Guide T3 generally used on GM's.

Figured while I was in the shop I may as well throw in a proper 4001 bulb from my spares...

This bezel must weigh 5 pounds. Solid cast.
1964dodge440part4 043.JPG

Can't see it behind the bezel, but may as well polish it while it's out.
1964dodge440part4 051.JPG

Yep, may as well polish the bezel as well.

Back together, reflection off the polished bezel blurs the new bulb appearance.

Back to drywall.....

Well everyone cross your fingers!! My bumper crossed the border today after UPS held it hostage again for Brokerage. All documents marked warranty replacement, $1 value and the fawkers still charged $120.80 CDN in clearance fees. I sent the seller the link to the tracking page saying "Pay Now" and he called me an hour or so ago to say he'd actually done just that. Delivery is showing end of day Monday, hold your breath 'till I get it unwrapped!!! Better be the right one...

UPS is just an extorting clusterf... $120 to clear a valueless package into Canada YET they didn't charge anything to do the same "work" for the return bumper going to North Dakota !!
