Pocket camera

I use my Samsung Galaxy phone now, and have done for everything for the last 10 years or so now.

Just don't buy the new 5g Samsung. My last Galaxy took the greatest pictures. The battery took a dump and I had to replace it. So I went for the new version of the same phone and the resolution really sucks!

I had a Galaxy 5 for about 6 years, and currently have the S10 (3 years now) - had company iPhones before them and an earlier Samsung.

The S10 takes great pictures and video...all my YouTubing is done from my phone, and the quality is perfectly fine.

Sony, Canon, Kodac, Polaroid, all a few made in Japan
or a Vivitar or Nikon too (I think Chinese)
all make point & shoot digital cameras
up-to like 12x zoom
&/or widescreen vs reg
digital video capable with sound
(you usually have to resize the photos/videos

I have a 21mp version, Acuvar (Chinese) point & shoot ($59)
I bought back in 2017 IIRC, from Walmart
I'm on my 3rd digital point & shoot camera, 1st 2 were Vivitars
1999 & then 2008-ish it was a lil' easier set-up & download,
good easy to use software... but they didn't last long
1 I left batteries AAA-cell too long & they fucked up the camera
so I got a new digital cheap zoom point & shoot camera
with a rechargeable battery, last far longer... not having to buy batteries

My 2 most unliked, country China & store Walmart,
I hate both,
but;
Walmart, they had a great electronics & camera selection

especially here in the sticks (not many US-made even available or cheap)
& I'm cheap when it comes to cameras, just not my thing,
I don't waste my $$ on something I rarely use...
I'm learning thou

Got one with all the options as possible for the budget/price range
latest style battery, it lasts a long time too
charge right off the computer usb port
(don't overcharge them, they can blowup/catch on fire)
if the photos are bigger than 12m = 4000x3000,
you will have to resize them to download on FBBO
available from 12 mp-21 mp (mega pixels),
use with a memory card
(get a 16mb card/chip at min., 32mb even better, more storage)
get an anti-shake feature
(or be very still, they are very touchy/sensitive)
get a face detect/smile/anti-redeye feature
& download with a supplied usb port cord, directly to the computer

for around $59-$109, next price tier is like to $129-$179 range
some even cheaper (Chinese crap)

I'm no camera expert by any stretch
it is easy to use, once set point & shoot

just don't take photos of old Polaroids
it doesn't work very well

My last one was the Note 5. My new one is the A42 5G. It has tons of memory, (132g) largest battery they make in a phone but the three cameras it has do not have any quality at all. They really missed the boat.

I used to go through pocket cameras every few months, shooting pictures at work until they eventually got dropped or damaged. My last replacement has been going strong for two years now and still works great. It's a Sony Cybershot w830, and it's quite small and light weight (under 5 ounces), has a real 8X optical zoom, image stabilization and 20 megapixels. It also focuses fairly quickly. Downloading is easy via either a USB cable or simply popping the SD card into your computer - it doesn't have wireless transfer though. The only negative is that video is only 720p. It doesn't take batteries; charging is done by the same USB that transfers your images and is usually good for a couple hundred shots before needing a recharge.

I have a Canon PowerShot SX730HS. Pretty small, 20mp, 40x optical zoom. There’s no phone that’ll zoom like this but even not zoomed the images are awesome. This model has been around a couple years so the price has come down a bit. Most of my pictures still happen with the iPhone but this is great to take out for stuff I can’t be close to, or want better resolution. Good for vacations, birds, etc. I use a Nikon D7500 for when the quality really matters.

I was going to take a picture of my camera, but I didn't have a second camera.
Mine is an Olympus FE-20.

I use a several-year-old Sony Cyber-Shot. Not very expensive, and the pictures have excellent quality. It even does video. Uploading can be done either by USB or remove the SD card and plug it in to the laptop.
Ditto on the Cyber-shot. Carried one in my backpack all over the world for work for 15 years. Takes great pictures, easy to use with a SD card or a cord to download. Best money I ever spent on a camera.

I see so many really crappy videos made of drag racing with phone Cameras. No zoom to follow the car, no closeups of anything of interest, shot with the phone at the wrong angle, etc. etc. etc.
I could do a better job with a forty year old camcorder.
