It's been a week , double root canal yesterday, all fine ,no infection ect.
Anyhow I'm at my regular Drs office today for a pre op physical. Knee repair by arthroscopic on this fri.
So they had done most of it but still needed to ekg me, same nurse I deal with most times I'm there has got all the sticky tabs on me.
I'm wired up , the old roller cart machine is gone she is holding a unit about the size of a osb scanner.
She says lay still, she is looking at the machine next thing out of her mouth is ( oh crap ) she lays it down and out the door goes. Right back in she comes with a new battery cube thing. The fckn battery was dead. Lmao.
We both had a good laugh after I said don't do that to guys over 60 .

Fun stuff, 67! Good luck with your surgery on Friday!

Best of luck with the surgery, my friend!
Yeah, some of my favorites the docs come up with often on me:
1. "You have zero salt in your body". Uh doc? Don't humans have to have some of that to be alive?
What is this, a bad Star Trek episode? (It's actually true - one of my meds strips me of salt and I
crave the stuff all the time)
2. "Your blood sugar is almost too low". What the heck is "too", doc? Thought that was the idea...
3. "You should be diabetic by now!" Yes, it runs in the immediate family - Pop had it bad, my little
brother has it now - but despite my lousy, mostly fried and junky diet, mine refuses to go much past 100.
No idea why - that started after cancer #3 years ago...

I kinda laugh when they come up with something "new" nowadays - they act all concerned and surprised
and I just snicker.
Hey, if anything else - I make a good medical crash test dummy for 'em to poke at.

Make sure they put a smiley face on the knee with a Sharpie so they don't get them mixed up!

If it's not to personal, I'm interested in how much they can do with knees. Mine are ok but I beat on them pretty good so want to know if the surgery is any good.

Friend of mine had a knee replacement done a couple months back and it's like he's a new man now.
I guess progress has been made since the days of watching Tommy Lasorda and James Garner hobble
around on our TV's on those old replacement knees, eh?

Not personal at all. 3 yrs. give or take i had the left one repaired by arthroscopic surgery, I had 2 tears in the meniscus and they cleaned out some arthritis in the joint.
That side had just got bad over time.
The repair/surgery went great and still is good compared to what that knee was like before hand.
The right side just popped or let loose while bowling 2 weeks ago. Xray and mri later I have a tear in the mcl and meniscus, we didn't talk about arthritis but I'm sure at 64 there is some.
I have had good luck with the left side and same surgeon is doing the right side.
I have been tuff on mine also over the years so I figured sooner or later I would have to deal with it.
I know everyone is different, people and drs. both, I've had good luck with the repair so I didn't hesitate to get this one fixed.

I hear you Ed, I consider what I got going as more of a ( new seals , grind the valves and slap it back together kinda deal) see if we can get another 10k out of them.

We put these on before the surgeon fused my ankle . The whole staff thought it was hilarious

Knowing a bunch of people having hip and knee replacements they all have said it was great; turned the clock back. Encouraging for those facing this sort of surgery. Now with me, looks like I'll need a 2nd fusion in my neck and have bi-lateral CTS. I did a number forgetting my age some weeks ago and paying dearly for it since..

I've been lifting weights most of my life which has made a huge difference in how well I'm holding up. My driving leg is more of a problem because I actually DRIVE my car and I have a blast doing it. The calf gets tight and jams the joint. I get structural integration regularly which is another reason I have relatively few physical problems at this age. Hopefully I won't need surgery but just want to know what someone who's had it done thinks. Did you get full use out of the joint after surgery?

I'm at the doctors now getting another cutting done to my face and when the tech said she's going to mark the spot I mentioned putting a smiley face to mark the spot. Only have one nose though. The doctor mentioned where I got my Plymouth cap and then started talking about how he had a k-car during his internship and locking it up with a club on the steering wheel and his friends laughing about nobody's going to steal it so why bother lol

Yep, full use

Yep, full use, I'm no athlete but pretty active, lots of walking, hunting, fishing , ect. Still working full time ( bodyman) .
I have been happy with the results,

Thanks, I do most of the work on my cars as well as stuff for a restoration shop. I used to compete but that was a long time ago. I want to keep the fitness of an athlete and that requires working out with weights if you want strength.

You'll know when you need knee replacement. You'll think do I really need to walk into that store or walk around a car show. Have had two knees done they don't hurt at all, 16 years on one and 11 on the other. 3 months recovery.

Nowhere close to that and the structural integration work makes a huge difference. Many times I'll be sore/stiff before working out and it clears up after I'm done. I think most of my issues are soft tissue but want to know about surgery if that ever needs to be addressed.

They've threatened to take my left knee for 40 years now; every morning, I've made it a point that
they won't (lots of cursing and grinding and working it first thing out of bed, but it works....so far).
I destroyed all my bursae in it in high school with sports, had the old "needle treatment" and draining
on it for a few years until they stopped it and said "there's no fluid left to drain - you're pure bone on bone
now".
Just throw it in the pain bucket, y'all....minor thing compared to everything else. :)

I went in for a full body look-over to check for any skin cancer yesterday. The doctor is a woman. I said to her & the nurse; why is it that I have to pay 50 bucks (copay) for you to watch me strip, but men always have to pay women to watch them strip? They laughed.
