HP blocks

Not sure but I think this was from '65 till '70.
Guess it stopped as the emission era kicked in.

We have a 73 440 stamped hp and a 79 360hp
In the 70s many engines stamped 440hp were in police cars.
Like said...its just a stamp. No difference other then internals on a 440. The 360hp there was differences. But that wasn't the question.

I've got a '72 HP 440 "H". It has 6 pack rods and cast crank. I think it came out of a 'Cuda.

A cast crank wouldn’t have been factory. They didn’t show up until middle of 1973.
I think it was a replacement crank, it could have been the "cheaper" way to go at the time for the previous owner. It was 35 years ago when I got it. Its still the same. The block is "HP" for sure. and the rods look super strong, it just has to be externally balanced. ( I would sell this complete motor)

I am unsure what it came out of. It was cast on 6/5/71. What kind of car could have it came out of? What cars came with HP 440 in "72? Thanks
Charger and GTX. Cop cars.

Would be a good way to make the split window really move though.

What the VIN? If we know what plant the car came from, that narrows what it could have come out of.

Were the 1966 365 hp. 440 dual exhaust motors in "C" bodies stamped HP? As opposed to 350 hp. single exhaust. I know these engines still had the smaller port/exhaust valve heads. HP engines also had windage trays from factory.
