Winners never Cheat - Cheaters never Win - Which one is it?

Houston just sealed the 2022 World Series. I have no love for either team - But I don't know how many decades it will take to escape the stain of their cheating scandal during the 2017 World Series (Their only other WS victory). Nothing of substance was done to the organization or any of those involved. A few firings - big deal. One of the many sad things was they had a great team and didn't have to cheat to win - but they did it anyway for insurance they'd win. They did the only thing they could do at the time and that was go out and hire Dusty Baker as their new manager. For Dusty I'm happy. For the Astros - they'll always be cheaters in my, and many others books. The 1919 Black Sox of 2017. At least something was done to the Black Sox and players were banned for life - deservedly so.

I don't like the Phillies either but I would have rather eaten sautéed rat meat than see Houston win "A" WS trophy. As far as I'm concerned they have just the one. 2017 will always have at minimum an * tho much more was deserved. Prior to I liked them - when I found out what they did - I'd piss on all their gloves.

I don't care much for either team either - I figured the Dodgers were all but a lock for the WS,
probably along with the (gag)Yankees.
My own beloved Braves, as well as they did this year...I knew they would fall short, simply because

Cheat on an exam, you fail. Cheat on a job resume, you're fired. Cheat on a professional sports game, no consequences. Just like the steroid cheaters, the 3 stooges Bonds, Sosa, and McGuire. No consequences. They're in the record book, Astro-cheaters in the record book. Those marks should be ERASED just like anyone else's would be in real life. Screw MLB baseball, it's a comical farce compared to what it once was, and it's become an agonizing, boring strikeout/home run derby joke. Batters have to play with their equipment between pitches, and the ******** with the freakin gold chains on their necks, who wears jewelry while playing a physical sports game? Baseball.... ? Frankly, I don't give a damn. ( The Filthys weren't gonna win anyway, with Forrest Gump playing centerfield )

electronics to steal signs. Since Houstion's shenanigans in 2017, the team has almost
entirely new players. The 2022 team should
not be made to carry the disgrace.

punished.

I get it you're the forgiving kind: I'm not especially when it comes to bg league sports. Are you going to make me jot down all the players that are still there - stars no less? Not enough money in the game for them to go around? Or do they need more adulation? Do you think the fans were in sync with what they did? We're not talking about 100 years ago (people are still claiming Shoeless Joe should still be in the HOF. Read the biography - No he shouldn't) This was 5 years ago - not 100. They got a slap on the wrist and the World Series trophy - forever. To me a pathetic commissioner and a pathetic non-outcome for a team that cheated their way to a world championship - when they didn't even need to do so. Good lesson to teach the kids. Just another day in today's deteriorated American culture and institutions we once held sacred - as fools maybe - but none the less - Where have all the hero's gone? I could go on but there's no need.....

players are way overpaid, but represent institutions long established. I do not
condone what they did. They paid their
penalties, some with losing their
careers. Since the kneeling of Kapernick,
I've not watched ANY professional sports,
and I'm an avid Raider fan. So I guess you
could say that I'm really not the forgiving
type. As with any felon, once their sentence
is served, they've paid their dues, realized
their mistakes, and deserve a chance to
prove their repentance. If they screw up
again, it's on them.

May I comment ? 1) No. 2) Yes. 1) Paying the price for cheating would be to remove them as champions in the record books. Just like removing the records of the 3 stooges I'd mentioned. The consequence of the cheating should be removed... permanently. 2) And deservedly so, a far better team and record for the season than the Filthys, for sure.

Since the sign-stealing scandal of 2017, just five players on that roster remain, and two of them are pitchers that didn't stand at the plate to get those stolen signs: second baseman Jose Altuve, first baseman Yuli Gurriel, third baseman Alex Bregman, with pitchers Justin Verlander and Lance McCullers Jr.

For the haters that hold a grudge.....that's fine. Doesn't bother me at all and I enjoyed watching them kick butt this year while the haters continued to hate. And y'all can't take away from the fact that the '3' that might have taken part in the scandal are still damn good players especially on defense.

I don't think, at least for me, it's a grudge or hate thing, I'm an American league fan. This seasons win, clearly the leagues best overall team. They kicked the Yankees asses. Filthys got hot to get in the series. Congrats to the Houston Colt 45's.... ooops, Astros.

I remember the 45's! Even went to one of the games in the middle of the summer and from the old stadium you could see the dome being constructed. Have to say it was 1964 because it was over half way competed and remember it was HOT out. It opened in 65. Best time at the dome was when Deep Purple played and the fans took over the field when they came on. The stage was facing the outfield and the fans weren't going to let all that distance between them and the stage happen no matter how many cops sat in folding chairs 50 feet apart all along the out field barrier! I was one of them that went over the barrier (don't remember how far it was to the ground....8-10' maybe?) and ended up throwing freebies and batting beach balls around while listening to the music. And DP made the sound system work with the echo in that place and made for a good sound no matter where you were in there.

You're damn right I remember those cheating bastards "The Saints" - Take the name away. The Vikings have played the honest hard working way since the 60's. They lost 4 Super Bowls fair and square against good teams who were simply better that day. All of us Viking fans rue those days not because someone cheated us - more because we didn't play our best football and lost to very good teams.

That bullshit NFC Championship game against the ain'ts was a crime. Any one but a blind saints fan could see what they were doing. The whole "pay to take out Favre" scheme was revealed later. Brett Favre took a beating that day like I've never seen any professional athlete take - and he kept getting up. You thought you were watching a Rocky movie. He was beaten up but not broken. That man was a god damn lion that day - name me one QB in 40 years that could/would have taken a beating like he did and never once complain and continue to get up. Who knows why he made that fatal flaw cross body pass when he had 10-15 clear yards In front of him where he could have staggered for a first down and sealed the game with a FG. I think he was so beat up he could barely run from where he stood.

They will always be the Scumbag saints - went on to win our Lombardi Trophy. It was clearly documented what they did. But what happened - a one year suspension for that dirt bag coach and his DC. A few minor fines for a several multimillionaire players. But then it was all brushed under the rug. Do you know we haven't lost to them once since that game - including several times in the playoffs. "The Minneapolis Miracle" I could watch over and over again. Boy did those little girls whine then and again when I think it was the Rams had a no call pass interference that cost them the NFC Championship again. Everyone feels sorry for those Pussies - How much complaining or aggressiveness did you see come out of Minneapolis after they damn near killed Brett Favre and stole our NFC title and almost an assured Super Bowl victory. I despise that team - Because they Cheated!

You get beat fair and square you just have to but your balls back in your nut sack and go home til next year - when someone Cheats you - a whole different story. The saints will always be cheaters as a long as the current ownership is in place. We're Vikings - we don't ever forget.

Tell me bro - Who lost their career (job yes - career who?) What penalties were paid by anyone that moved their financial needle by even a micro spec? A felon is marked for life as such - many do deserve a second chance - but most go thru life carrying that burden and continue to pay for the rest of their lives. Tell me even one of these Astrocheaters that has paid even a microcosm of that kind of penalty? None - and They'll all be forever known as the 2017 World Series Champions and have the rings to prove it. Tell me what felon gets anything close to that in any kind of comparable way? Well....like I said, very few original players are still on the team including the manager who had to sit out during the 2018 season and is now the manager for another team. And if I could afford to move away from Houston I wouldn't still be living here.
