I am looking at purchasing the TTI head pipes for my '71 440 Charger. I currently have a new 3" exhaust system on the car. I have since removed the headers and installed the correct HP manifolds.

My question is for those with the same setup. I am curious to the overall length of the TTI head pipes. My current exhaust is a "headers back" system. I am just wondering what kind of fitment magic I might need to perform.

Thanks)

Midas could make regular head pipes you tell to use maybe 2" or 2.25" tube. Or what was stock? You don't need them to go to muffler just to header flang plus 3".
Buy header flanges size of new exhaust tube. You need to find out if say a this is important 2.25" flange has the same bolt pattern as your 3" one. If it does put flange on new pipe, put the extra tube inside your 3" pipe. Mount new pipe to engine exhaust manifold loosely bolt the new pipe flange to 3" flange. tighten engine manifold end and weld everything up. You don't even need to cutoff excess tubing inside 3" pipe. You can go back to headers with no changes.

I don't expect he will be going back to headers.
(He's a pretty smart guy)

I have been calling all the exhaust companies in my area to include the custom pipe guys. Biggest problem is getting the car there with open manifolds. I do not have a trailer nor a truck to pull one, so delivering it is not an option. Plus, it would add to the cost.

My question, and the reason for this post is...if someone has these TTI head pipes, can you please measure them so I know what I need to fabricate. I intend to run a piece of pipe to what is already "in place" . I can not afford to run another complete system. The current one has only about 50+ miles on it.

I appreciate the info Fran, but I have decided on the track I want to take. I just wanted further information on the TTI length. I can call TTI Tuesday to ask them.

Don, you are correct....no more headers in my future !!

Just measured mine and best I can tell is approx 30 inches from the center of the down pipe section to the end of the pipe where it attaches to the H pipe section

I used those on my 71 RR and they reached almost to the trans mount. Within 3 inches as best as I can remember. I just took loose the exhaust hanger and cut to fit and went to oriellys and bought 2 reducers then welded all together. You could use a flat style clamp to get it to a welder.

They are available from 2 in up to 6 in.
