I've also seen this pic captioned that these fighters were in storage Postwar. Imagine coming across this baen find today!

In 1944, the 5,000th B-17 Flying Fortress rolled off the production line at Boeing's Plant #5 in Seattle, WA. It was signed by every employee at the Plant . . .

And named appropriately . . .

5 Grand flew a total of 78 combat missions over the German Reich, all while still adorned with her builders signatures. She then returned her crew safely to the United States and was then sold off to airplane scrappers in Kingman, AZ, where she was unceremoniously broken up and scrapped, forever lost to history on 22 Nov 1945.
