Yeah, the first dive out of dry dock is always a nail biter. You can tie a string tight across the port and starboard side of the sub when on the surface and by the time you reach test depth it is hanging on the floor.I'd hate to be on the first test dive after leaving the drydock
Thats cool. I’ve been thinking about one of theseCar Jackets. They're like a sandwich bag, with a zipper, drive them on, prep 'em with some desiccant placed inside the car and bag, and close it up. My garage is insulated, but no heat. Like to put them away by Thanksgiving, and open them up after the thaw in Spring, when the uncovered metal in the garage stops sweating. They work pretty well...

Yup, NTC/RTN use to be just over the fence from MCRD... Actually the area right across the fence was known as "Worm Island" & it was closed years before the majority of NTC/RTC.... But it was open when I was there....Right, but said you went to San Diego...

Yeah, the Hollywood Marines caught one of the guys from my group trying to run away on his first night in Boot... He jumped the fence to escape RTC & found himself in MCRD.... He got his wish, they booted him out & sent him home..Sooo, you got to see those d#*^ Hollywood Marines huh?!!
