i have a 360 that came out of a 1990 d150. im putting the engine into a 1973 charger. What type of oil pan would i need. Are all oil pans the same? can i just find an oil pan for a 360 for a b body and that will work or will it differ because of the motor year?

Truck pans have a rear sump and won't work in a car....a pan from a 360 car should fill the bill.

Any 1971 - 1980 passenger car 360 oil pan will work for the 1990 truck 360 engine in your 1973 Charger. There were two versions of the 360 car pan with a slightly different placement of the "center" sump, which is really only a concern with earlier A-bodies with respect to their K-member.

You will also need a matching oil pump pickup. Mancini Racing sells a kit with pan and matching pickup:

MRE - Center Sump Oil Pan Kit - Raw

Summit and Jegs also sell pans and pickups separately. Milodon makes a stock replacement passenger car pan that has a rear baffle .

And don't even think about using an LA 318 pan.....it won't fit.

yeah i have a 318 in the car now and ive been told they wont work at all. which sucks. that would have made things much simpler.

First time for me to swap out a tired teen that was in a 79 pickup for a 360 that came from a car is when I 'learnt' about it lol. Thought it was going to be a simple swap. It's also when I learned about internal and external balancing and a few other 'little' things.

thankfully i found out about balancing before i bought a bunch of parts. im working through it. but im leaning heavy on this forum and its been a gold mine so far. i havent started the build process yet. just gathering parts so far. im going to try and keep everthing updated and while i go through the build though so maybe someone can see my finds and mistakes.

This one will fit into your Charger.

BTW.. that's a LA Roller block.. LA block with factory roller cam provision like a magnum.. can run a roller cam and oem lifters, very nice setup... i just bought a 85 block hoping it was roller but nope. They are not easy to find.

Engine mount brackets are a bit different too between the teen and 360 but they can be used with spacers/washers.....

yeah you actually commented on one of my other posts. Where i showed i bought the block for $50. You actually provided me with the cam setup that i think im going to go with. so thanks for that. =)

actually someone did mention in another post that this would be the case. something about one of the sides(driver i think) not having the same tab for mounting. what will i need to do do you know?

all good. ive been there a few different times. stuff just blends together after a while. i found a decent cam and roller combo that i think im going with.

nice, if you are going to use the factory spider/roller setup you can't go over like .545 (1.5ratio) (i'm told) just fyi

Ahh.. very nice, that's my cam.. just a warning the idle is nasty... I used oem lifters cause they are around $100 a set, and your motor might already have them in it :)
i do have the original roller lifters that i got with the engine. they came in the little v things in sets of 2 with a weird tray like thing t hold them down i believe.
