I was going through my garage and I have some parts I purchased back in 2018 with plans to hop up my old 440, what I am wondering is if this cam amd rocker assembly is to aggressive for a street car and more set up for a street strip leaning towards strip setup i would like to get more power down but still be able to use power brakes, with the below list of parts would I be making this more of a strip car?

I am looking for something that has power to break the tires loose but is still drivable for a cruise with power brakes. Did I over buy back then?

Do you have the converter and gear you want to use yet or you get to buy those to match?

I have a 3.55 sure grip gear set in the garage I plan to put in, no converter yet.
Its not likely to have enough vacuum to power the brakes.
If not enough vacuum what specs would I be looking for, to get enough vacuum for the brake booster?

Results may vary but I've always been told 230* @ .50 for good brakes with hyd flat tappet. That's a bunch milder than what you have

A stock 440 automatic would easily and effortlessly do what you want.

I use an external vaccum pump to power my power front discs on the 70 problem solved for me. .484 cam MP thought they once said anything under .474 was good for factory setup but could be wrong

250° at .050, and power brakes will not play well together.
If you wanna keep the power brakes (why?) Id look at cams with 230° at .050, or less. (Preferably, less!).
I have never had power brakes on a hot rod in fifty years.

I thought about manual breaks but wanted the power and learned shortly after that my cam choice for my build didn’t provide for my power brake needs but fixed the issue later with the vaccum pump. Manual for me no issue but for the wife it would’ve been so vaccum pump I went plus my old *** wanted power breaks lol

That cam would be a bit tamer in a motor with a 4.15 or 4.25 stroke. Still rowdy mind you but more manageable. I ran a 246* intake @ .050 hyd with a 3.91 stroke and my power brakes were fine.
One size smaller would be manageable but two sizes would be better matched to a cruiser and still capable of 500hp with Edelbrock heads. The XE274 is a good street cam and the XE 284 is one step hotter.More of a 550hp cam with good heads.

I wouldn't mind seeing that cam with some good heads in a stroker on the Dyno.

Fair enough. Good answer, good response. Even if I would let her (I wont), my gf won't go near my hot rods, let alone try to drive one, lol.

Same Thought process not often but my wife does drive the car and i want her to feel comfortable and not stressed the whole time.

I will be keeping the heads but probably selling the rest have a dyno you want to test it on?

Something along the lines of the MP street hemi grind will provide enough vacuum.

Edelbrock Performer RPM Cylinder Head for Big Block Chrysler

Part Number: 350-60189

Stock pistons I am not looking to rebuild the whole motor but like i said just wake it up a little
Do you have headers? The E streets will up the compression some 75cc vs 88cc. They dont fit on some headers wo a hammer. Had the heads off? Are they flat tops or do they have a dish? Flat top is really, really low compression, dished piston even worse. We have a rv 440 similiar in great shape, we dropped in oem used 68-70 pistons. I suggest looking at smaller cams like a comp 268XE, voodoo 702 or comparable in size from Hughes. I probably would not get hughes whiplash if your wanting to run power brakes.

Heads have not come off yet, still boxed on the shelf (Edelbrock) iron heads still on motor in the vehicle, i was planning on removing this fall, ok so a lighter cam understood, then i will probably be placing the rockers, shims, spacers, and camshaft for sale then. Thank you for the input! do you by chance know what the original cylinder head volume was? 88CC or larger/ smaller?
