Vintage garage stuff

I came across a pretty heavy duty shelf today for 10 bucks. There was some advertising on the side that indicated it was for A1 sauce. I cut two by fours to elevate the cans in the back.

I remembered I had this Valvoline decal sitting around. I put the decal on a piece of poster board and screwed it on the back.

I somewhat figured out the wiring for the fluorescent display chronometer. There are still two wires that I don’t know the purpose of. I wonder if one dims the display a little when you turn your headlights on. As for the fifth wire, I am at a loss. It wasn’t very important, so I gave up on trying to find a wiring diagram for a car that would’ve had one of those clocks in it.

Following are the wiring connections for the wiring for the vacuum fluorescent display chronometer, FYI:
  • Yellow with black tracer: To the head light switch dimmer - Controls intensity of the display with dash/interior lights.
  • Black: To ground.
  • Dark blue: To +12V switched, ie. ignition run or "Accessory" - Turns display on/off with key on/off.
  • Red: +12V constant on - Retains time memory.
  • Orange: To light circuit - Signals chronometer to dim for night/dark when lights are on.
