Transmission problem?

In 1967, the console became on option, as well as the Buddy seat. So, it is not uncommon to see 1967 Chargers with automatic with column shift. This applies to 1967 Coronet 500 and R/T as well.

Thanks for sharing that. Helpful information. I was aware of a few changes from 66 to 67, but I completely missed that.

Is it filled with fluid? Check to see if the flex plate is bolted to the converter.

Today I checked the linkage and and it seems fine. I started the engine and checked the fluid in neutral. Lo and behold it’s low, really low. When I went to look at the car, it was full with new fluid, but it’s been sitting for a few years. I betcha when they put the engine in they filled the tranny and never ran the engine to fill the converter.

1-Make sure all the linkage is working.
2-If the engine starts the converter is bolted to the flex plate.
3-Drop the pan and make sure the shift valve is working with the shifter.
4-If full of fluid and all above is correct I suspect the pump ears are broken off. Most likely when the engine was swapped.

Looks like was just enough fluid in it to read dull when I bought it. I put 4 quarts in and still not getting a reading. It will go into gear now and the driveshaft and rear are turning. I’m wondering how many quarts would give me a reading of full in the fluid pan?

It starts so the converter has to be bolted to the flex plate.

My 63 Belvedere took 10-12 quarts when dry to fill the TC and transmission if I remember correctly.

Not sure on yours but should give an idea

I still cant believe the transmission was empty. I'm going to buy a few more quarts and see what happens.
