Where did you grow up?

Punxsutawney, PA... yeah, home of the groundhog. Great little town, at the time (1973-1993). I can't imagine a better place to grow up. I just went back last weekend, after about twelve years away. Man, things have changed! We went from about eight elementary schools down to one, and the Jr High and Sr. High are now merged. Not much in the way of industry; nothing to keep people there - except family, and that doesn't pay the bills.

I moved to Ohio in '93, but Punxsy will always be special. And we had an excellent cruising route!

Was born and raised in Eugene Oregon, joined army in 02. Came back 07 live in the town next door now. This place has gone down hill last 40 years, homeless and drugs.

I’m going to my original hometown Buffalo in a couple weeks. Still have many friends I grew up with and we stayed in touch. Meeting at my land South of Buffalo on the Pa state line. Bolivar NY. Place I spent my summers at. Can’t wait

I had a layover a bit north of Eugene, back in 1981 when I was running a flatbed to the west coast in the summers during my school days. The intensity of the green landscape made a serious impression on me, far surpassing what I'd grown up with in rural Pennsylvania. My wife got concerned when I started making noises about moving there and driving a log truck.

Sorry to hear about the decline of the area. Story is similar to the surrounding regions where I live, with the closures of the mills and the mines.

Still in my town, my house is next to where I grew up. Town had 13k people 70 years ago, now 30k. I can remember when town had 2 traffic lights, now to many. Parent's house.

I grew up in San Jose , CA. My parents bought a new house there for $23k in 1965. We moved in 1972 long before the area became the Silicon Valley. I was looking on Zillow the other day, and that house is now a dump and the Zestimate is $2M ‍

It is extremely beautiful here and green. Yes there is very few logging mills even around anymore. Only the big corporations hardly any little ones spread across the country side like it was when it was booming here.

The paper mills in my area all closed down in the 1980s. I hauled to all of them with my first truck, as well as the steel mills and coal mines. While this part of the local economy was dying off, Penn State was growing exponentially. My wife spent the last part of her career there, enabling us to stay in the area.

never left...... people to my west, blueberries and cranberries to my east

with NJ being the butt of many jokes, I like where I am....... It's not horrible

Jersey is portrayed as nothing more than a concrete jungle on TV

I grew up on long Island New York. My parents moved us to a new small town in Florida that at the time no one ever heard of, Cape Coral. Graduated high school there and joined the Navy. Ended up in Hawaii, been here ever since. But lately thinking about retiring somewhere in the mainland. Just don't now where yet.

Had enough of living in a state with the best weather?

I grew up on a sailboat cruising along the west coast. Still live on the water, I got into cars after college through a buddy who had/has a 70 Superbee he restored.

Where is that red x when you need it

I actually like Long Island.

I never get tired of the weather here, getting tired of the crazy cost of living here.
That's why I endure the winters in Pennsyltucky. On truck driver pay, I was able to buy what would have been a seven figure property in a good climate, property taxes of 8K per year.

Nothing wrong with Long Island, but If I were to move it wouldn't be to a place that also has a high cost of living.
