Aluminum or Stainless Trim Restoration Services

Who have you used? Good and Bad points? Cost for what you had done? Planning on getting some of my 66 500 but especially all of the belvedere II trim and rear finish panel restored. I met a guy at carlisle 2 years ago and lost his paper somewhere, and couldn't locate him past couple years there. Any input is welcome, and no, I don't want to fool with it myself.

Stevens is the one that usually has a booth at Carlisle. Do not recommend. I gave him my wide belt moldings for the 71 and they were polished over heavy scratches, sent them back and they came back a little better but not acceptable for the price. Ended up finishing them myself.

Priced per foot. Don't recall how much I paid in 2021. I took him all my stainless for my 69 Coronet R/T. It was all straight but had a few dings. He also polished the aluminum tail light panel and removed a golf ball sized dent, and the aluminum Torque Thrust 2 wheels.

Great guy, reasonable prices, good service.

Last year I had a guy here straighten and buff about 24 pieces of stainless for my 57 Dodge. I didn't even think a few of pieces could be saved... he glanced at them and shrugged it off as "no problem". It was $1300 and worth every penny.

Any idea who it was?

Who from? Not a bad deal for all that work. My Belvedere stuff has to have the anodizing done and that argent-like finish applied in certain areas.

I had most of my stainless polished by Bruce Dell in OH. It’s been awhile so I can’t recall the exact cost. Really nice work and I felt it was reasonably priced.

Thanks, I wonder if he can do the anodizing and painting my trim needs? It currently has polished trim on it and it looks hideous to me. I see other 66s and their trim looks so much better than whats on mine.

Local guy in the City. Does mostly upholstery of all kinds.
I am fairly certain he doesn’t do anodizing. The last car I had the anodizing removed. Kept the aluminum mouldings polished with MetPol worked very well. Could have sent it away for anodizing, won’t with this car either.

Maybe a little off topic, but 2 years ago I reconditioned / polished every single piece of trim, with the exception of pot metal pieces, on my 64 Polara. I spent about $300 on supplies. It took me about 30 hours to do it all. This included dent removal, removing any anodizing etc. I also painted areas that were finished as such from the factory. Finished result was in my opinion, was a 9.5 out of 10. I had no prior experience doing this. It was my first stab doing this. It's a little nerve racking taking #100 sand paper to aluminum trim, but in the end, if done correctly, the results are worth it. A couple of pics for reference.

You could check with Bill Petro, aka "Specialty Bill". His Main work is '62-'65 Mopars, but he may be able to help you out. His work is "A-One" Quality, but Not Cheap. He was at Carlisle last year along the fence, near the Old Dealership, now a Brewery...

I used a local gentleman by the name Gordon Duda. He is retired and does it on the side. He has done numerous Autorama show cars. He is a very nice guy. Quick turn around. Reasonably prices. He did 11 pieces for me for $300.00. Looked great when done.

Thank you. I am trying to get them restored as new, they were not chrome, they were anodized and had argent paint on them. Someone already made them look like chrome and it ruins the look, imho. I will contact them and see if this is in their wheelhouse, thank you. My windshield moldings and some other pieces are supposed to be shiny so I could get those done for sure.

He is here in Silverlake WA.... not sure you wanted to go that far. With me, he wanted to see the actual condition of the parts to give an accurate actual quote.

I do my own stainless and aluminum trim and some for my neighborhood buddies. I just polish the aluminum and go with it unless and can’t see any reason to re-anodize unless going for judging. Appearance is not that different from new brite-shine anodizing. A coat of wax on the aluminum and it’s fine for a long time.

Same here. I waited Too long for some maintenance on my Van. Broke a carb shaft yesterday. May just drive the Ram, or may have to cancel this year. Too Many Irons, In the Fire...
