Some people, actually a lot of people simply don't understand electricity so thy ask questions.
Someone comes along and gives them an easy way around the problem so they start recommending it to everyone else because it TEMPORARILY solved their problem and, suddenly, it becomes the rule.
Instead of fixing the real problems (corroded terminals, fractured insulation, overheated terminals) they, simply bypass the offending circuit and thing all is well again.
Well, folks, it AIN'T
I would NEVER shunt a charging system component. I would fix the mechanical issues that are causing the problem, even if it meant replacing a portion of the factory wiring (chaffed wire, broken strands, etc.)
So Bob pisses folks off but he's right when it comes to electrical issues.
BTW, I have an electronics degree as well.
