Trunk lid: bought the car Jan 2025, with trunk out of alignment. Previous owner had car for 8 years and never tried to fix alignment. PPO, no contact info.
Right side needs to move 3/8-7/16 to front of car
Left side needs to move 1/8 inch toward front
Up down adjustment is OK
I am at rear of adjustment slots on both sides trunk lid. No additional adjustment at hinges, factory shop manual 23-44
Is best way to grind/file to extend the hinge bolt adjustment slots in the trunk lid toward the rear of the car?
Or should I try to bend the hinges? Looks from hinges that someone tried to do that with hammer and punch, but was not succcessful.

I have a 66 convert that was exactly like that. Ended up having to slot the holes.. worked out perfectly.

I don’t think that’s fixable. You should just give it to me.

Thanks for the answer!
I suppose you removed the trunk lid completely first?
Did you use a small grinding bit or wheel on a drill to extend the adjustment slots?

Or trade it to you for a 1973 Lincoln, right? Wrong!
Yeah that’s the ticket. Well if you’re not going to give it to me then it might be worth trying to fix. I recommend using a 2x4 and sledgehammer.
