2 quick questions before changing intake manifold gasket

So on saturday i will finally attempt to change the intake manifold gasket on my 1969 dodge charger r/t with the stock 440.
(Had to delay it for lack of time)

First question is i bought myself this vaccum gauge: 20300 Vacuum Gauge and Fuel Pump Tester
If i want to check the manifold vaccum where do i connect it to and what reading would be good/normal?
I think somewhere at the carburetor? If so where exactly?

Second Question is what would be the correct amount of torque for the intake manifold bolts? 25 ft-lbs?
I will be using this gasket and everything is stock NO aluminum aftermarket components: More Information for FEL-PRO MS96000

Apart from that any general tips?

What manifold is it? Is it the stock manifold? Or are you replacing it with aluminum? As far as a vacuum port, you have two good locations. The one on the manifold that the brake booster is hooked to, and the one at the base of the carb. Check it at both.

I will keep using the stock manifold.

17-18" of vacuum is OK for V-8s. The small choke pull off diaphragm (right front side of carb) can be unhooked at the carb and that nipple will provide manifold vacuum to your gauge.

40 / 45 lbs , on cast intake.
Or just good and tight :drinks:
Clean everything, do not forget shop rag you placed in the valley. Thread sealer on bolts.
Take pics before if it's your 1st.

I'm a bit confused because you say right front side of the carb but after some googling i think you mean the thing i marked with a red circle?
And if i'm understanding correctly the vaccum line that is connected to that is also connected directly to the carb and i remove it from the carb and then plug my vaccum gauge there, right?

Now i have read it all. 25, 35 and 45 lbs.
Can someone confirm 40-45 lbs is the right number?

Being in Germany I would use the Deutsch torque setting "Guten Tight".
You don't want to torque them to Russian specs - "Brokenoff"
 
I take a dull chisel and crease the bends to dry fit the valley pan so it sets nicely in there.

The pan doesn't come with a sharp crease.
I put a very thin film of Ultra grey or black sealant around the ports and a line across the front and read with a dab in the corners.

My service manual lists 50 ft/lb but I never tighten them that much. I would go with 40 ft/lbs.

While you are changing intake gasket/valley pan, cut appropriate size squares out of old pan to block off heat riser ports, before bolting intake down. This will reduce fuel percolating in your carb. Alternatively, you can buy a pan with these ports already blocked.

the Fel-Pro part number is 1215 intake manifold gasket, it has the ports blocked off. We have one that will be installed, on a 440 we are building next weekend.

Thanks for the tip but i'm not looking to block off the heat riser ports as this is bad for starting in the cold (afaik).

Correct. Sorry, I should have said: the front of the right side.
