The rear drum brakes on the 68 Superbee do not seam to be correct. I am following the book but the bottom spring looks out of place. I bought the spring kit twice 3x11 thinking I got the wrong kit but they were both the same. Advise on the next steps
The first two is what I have installed passenger rear. The third one is what I found on both side when I started so I don’t have any other reference.

Thank you. I dont think the bottom spring I have will do that as the “hook” will not hold that way. I will keep messing with it

It looks like the spring needs to be in the larger hole on the brake shoe. I have a great reference pic at home, which I'm not there. I'll try to post it tomorrow, unless someone beats me to it.

Pretty sure these are 11.0 and credit to original poster. These are like the ones on my 70 roadrunner

i removed the spring and used the larger hole but turned the spring 180 which seams to have done the trick. I will get a picture later as right then my back said no more and locked up. Never had this happen before. Getting old is not that much fun.

Somebody has changed something, ‘68 Bee’s had manual adjusters and the lower spring laid right over the star wheel adjuster. Your setup also needs another long spring to hold the shoes tight against ends of the adjuster.

I was mistaken. These are just like the reference picture that I have, from my restoration, for a '70 B-Body, and not the '68, which is different, according to the Plymouth FSM. I'm only assuming the '68 Dodge is the same as the Plymouth.

Yes, supposedly the bee’s were police brakes. I confess that I’ve done many brake jobs in 70+yrs and I lay everything right under so they’re in same relationship. All makes/models, BUT,,,,, this was when all the parts houses Knew what was going on!! Now, it’s all on the buyer; sad, but true.

I was able to get this setup on one side before having to stop. From my understanding the 68Bee has 3x11 drums. I have the service manual but still confused if this is now correct.
On front and 2 1/2 on back if it’s all drums?

But, is that 11” Bee brakes? My FSM shows only manual adjusters and that’s what I have.

Nope, just showing spring orientation for what he was trying to do. Looks like he originally had the manual adjuster but bought the "backup" setup. Won't hurt to upgrade just not correct for the year.

Main issue was the bottom blue self adjuster spring not in the right hole.

That will cause the adjuster to not work right and may affect the application of the shoe.

main thing is if you take a screwdriver and pry out the shoe to simulate shoe movement and watch the adjuster work.
