So confused….

Last photo is manual adjust brakes. I assume you meant to make them self-adjusted. The lower spring needs to go into the big hole in the lead shoe. I know it doesn't look right, but, just loop it through (what looks like backwards) and it will stay. On a side note, make sure the cable guide hasn't slipped out of the hole in the shoe when you installed the spring. It's a common problem and the self adjuster won't work correctly if it isn't properly in place.
 
Thanks to everyone that helped with this issue. I was able to get the car completed today with my back issues getting better plus I was able to get the old paint looking better for now.

First time I've seen this post.. As mentioned 68 didn't originally have self adjusters... Adding them is an upgrade.. But the setup you have appears to be for 10" drums, like shown in this picture...

11" drums like you have should use this style self adjusters and springs...

Well crap because I bought the parts for 11” from classic industries. I will go either back to the manual or get the “upgrade” but where do you guys suggest I buy the correct parts? Thanks again for all the help!!!
