Testing at Beech Bend for the NDRL season final. After a 9.21 pass the right rear went flat. Wouldn't air up past 7psi. Pulled it off used the camper jack to break the bead. Found the tube destroyed. Nothing in the tire itself. Popped in a spare tube. And made the final test session. 2 weeks ago it was a lower radiator hose in warm ups. A couple a weeks before that the 4 2/2 minute water pump install. God has watched over me. None of theses failures happened on track.

You are very fortunate, Doug. That's the kind of thing that put my buddy, Ross, into the wall at Norwalk at 150+ m.p.h.

Had a great weekend. Had a chance to win the Championship by 1 point.. Had to win the race. Lost in the 4th rd on a -.001 red.

Bummer.
Some days are better than others. After about sixty years I tried to learn how to enjoy the crappy days.
I do know how to change tires. The camper jack was a good plan. Sometimes breaking the bead is the hardest part.

Looks like you have talcum powder in there. I used to see a lot of tube failures at the airport. Everyone would try and correct me about saying that they didn't run enough tire pressure. Low tire pressure was their problem. They also said that they wouldn't be able land their airplane with 50/54 lbs of air pressure, caused by bouncing. I laughed at them, I had no flat tires, and no problem landing either. Always found the tiniest pin holes in their tubes from sidewall friction. Now we know why you run low air pressure, is destroying tubes common? Just wondering if it should be an item to change after so many passes?
Glad that your failure happened in the pits!
