It has come to my attention that if im switching from my mild 360 magnum small block to a decently warmed up 440 big block my 8 1/4 reared may not be up to snuff.

All street driven on street tires, but what are everyone's thoughts?

Depending on budget I wouldn't get too worried about switching it. On street tires on the street its unlikely you'll get traction enough to kill it quickly. And if you blow it up you're not really out anything. Just keep your eyes out for an 8-3/4 that'll fit while you drive it.

I have tortured some 8 1/4 rear ends behind big block engines. In my younger, dumber days, I damaged one by doing an extended one-wheel burnout, which caused the axle and pinion gears to fail.
If you're not doing dumb stuff like this, you will be fine.

Stick shift: no
ALWAYS street tires, mild gear, stock (ish) converter. Okay ....probably.
Driven like an idiot teenager (or me)? Might be time for an upgrade.
Run ten year old t/a radials, it'll last forever.
My opinion only.

I deff drive like an idiot teenager... I guess ill keep my eyes open for an 8 3/4 and mentally prepare for the possibility of catostrauphic failure
