Electric Fuel Pump

Im afraid by the sound of my once quiet fuel pump that its going out. Could someone tell me of a decent one to replace this? Its in a 73 Satellite with a 318 engine with a roller cam and 625 CFM Edelbrock carb. This was in the car when i got it and cant seem to find any name or numbers on it. Thanks.
 
If your electric pump was once "quiet", I would try to find out what brand it is and get another. I've never seen a quiet electric pump.
 
Stumper my mistake, Your right they are not quiet but this one is louder by twice, almost like a grinding noise is really the only way i can describe it. Fuel looks fine but in any case i thought id check on a new one, it seems to still work i did go around the block but at one time it acted as though the carb wasn't getting fuel, just once but i am afraid its warning me. The car came from Virgina and ive tried numerous times in the last 7 years to get a hold of the guy to find other info and cant. I do apologize for the confusion.
 
Stupid question , but were you low on fuel? mine gets louder when my fuel is low.
 
No it isint, It does have though almost a 1/2 a tank in it now. thanks.

It also had as much in it at the time to clarify.

I like the Summit Racing copy of the Holley Black that i use for Bracket race only. It is noisy but all vane/rotor pumps are. Is this a street car? These are not the safest fuel system even with ignition reliance per NHRA. Why not mechanical? No pump likes to deadhead so for the street, a return would be good. Most vane/rotor pumps have a limited life before rebuilds but I am sure there is someone out there who has run one on the street without a return for years. All that aside, they are cool and I think the noise is a great intro to firing up an open headered engine! Best to ya.
 
i just installed a Holley 12-125 HP series pump. much quieter than the older style Holley pumps
 
This is just a street driven car, Nothing special at all, I thought of just putting a mechanical one in it, electric is what it came with. I think i would rather have the electric one for the 400 that i might manage to have ready by mid summer next year but thats down the line a bit, ill check these out you guys mentioned here. Thanks to you both for your time.
 
If the 400 isn't going to crazy radical and it is going to be a street driven car then go with the mechanical pump. If you want to use an electrical pump that is quite then maybe look at the new Edelbrock pumps. They advertise that they are quite
 
Thanks wedge I wondered why they put this on the 318 when i got it. As far as the 400 goes, it isint going to be anything radical by no means. I will check out Edelbrock to, mechanical is sounding rather good though.
