Why oh why do I make things difficult? I really don't intend to, but...

Pulled the engine this weekend to toss the 318 wide block and drop the 340 in; however, noted the radiator is leaking. Added to list of "I have to buys" and went to parts store. They don't have one because their computer only tells them 318 or 361 engine. The one they pulled for the 361 is $760. the other is $400. Ouch!!

My question is this, can I just measure what came out and purchase a universal aluminum radiator? Jegs has them but not sure if they carry the ones that have the inlets for trans lines. There's an Ebay store that does.

What say ye??

I grabed my replacement rad from SutoZone for $200, however, the 318 I have is a "LA" not a "A" though I don't see why it should be double the price for an "A" engine.

On a aluminum unit, from Jegs/Summit, etc...
You cn have the inlet and outlets where ever you want as well as where the tranny cooler is placed except up top. Left side, right side or on the bottom.

Just measure up and call them first and ask for a Mopar guy on the phone. I find that helps alot when your doing things that aren't exactly a normal item to be done.

Some people I know rave over the store sellers at E-bay, some curse.

Have you tried a local radaitor shop?
The can fix up the one you have for much less.
Usually around 50 bucks or so.

I haven't tried getting this one recored because I tried going that route with my brother's Fairlane. Nobody close to me would do it.

I bought this Afco rad from Mancini for my 63 Sport Fury. It was $349. and it comes with brackets on it. They just are not drilled so I just lined it up and then drill the holes. They sell a direct bolt in for $559. and the universal with no brackets for $200. I went with this Afco aluminum because it had the brackets and was not over $500 like the direct fit. Ron

Summit has a mopar with brackets for about 290 bucks. I bought this one
