I decided to order some 3800# Super Stock springs for the 66 Charger I bought and am building for my dad.Everything went pretty smooth and it rides ok,but the passenger side rear hanger is laying flat against the frame. The driver side is hanging the way it should. The rear hangers are the only thing that wasn't changed.Should I order the longer hangers? The car has a great stance right now and I don't want it sitting any higher unless it has to.

I did use the longer front hanger.

This is a pic of how it sits while on the ground.I am using the bottom holes on the front spring hanger.Should I move it up to the hole above it? spring hanger.jpg

did you check both spring lengths before install to make sure you didnt get a mixed set on accident?try measuring from the top of the rear shackle(at frame hole)to the front mounting hole to make sure they are the same distance as well.(just to be sure)

Will the hanger come away from the frame when the car is jacked up using the jack at the frame? If so, try to use a bar to help the spring push the hanger backwards from the center of it's travel when you slowly let the car back down. I've see this happen before and 'usually', that's all you need to do but if after you drive it and it goes back to that, you have other issues.

Hi, Did the install of the SS springs raise the rear of your car higher in comparison to the original springs?

I can't comment on the original ride height of his car, but in general they do bring the car up a bit... Couple reasons for that,, 1. They are new and not an old saggy pants worn out spring that was removed, and 2. They are stiffer and arched more than the original springs when they were new.
Also, they do tend to raise one side up more than the other, so from the rear view you'll notice a difference from side to side.
My 67 has a noticeable difference in the rear stance with S/S springs installed....

Thanks, I have the original springs on my 67 gtx. I had air shocks , but took them off. I was thinking about installing SS springs, but i want to make sure that they will give it little more lift than stock .How muchdifference did the SS springs.make? Thanks

Made a **** ton of difference on my ride!
Mine was a 100% complete factory original car when I picked it up. Mine was from an estate sale in Texas and the daughter in law was in charge of selling the Ol mans stuff while he lived in a nursing home. I even have the paperwork from the dealership when he checked the options sheet and the down payment canceled check.... Lots of original dealership documents, Certi-Card...... everything.... Even all of the registration papers for every year it was plated....
The above picture is of the car when I drove it off the trailer into my driveway three summers ago.

It really didn't raise the car as much as I thought it would. It has a pretty nice stance to it,but it was raised maybe 2 inches compared to the 46 yr old flat springs. There are some cheap tires(195 75 14) on it until my 4 wheel power disc brake kit comes in and I put the American Racing 17's on it.I'm sure it will sit up a little higher then.I'll post all the pics in a couple weeks. One thing is for sure,it hooks a hell of a lot better than before!Even with the small tires on it!
