Waking up the beast

Valley pan is a pain!
Just finished gasket matching ports on my new valley pan. Always a chance of leakage.

I am sure you will get it sorted out for next week. May want to pull plugs, could have oil fouled a few sucking oil.

Good idea checking the plugs. I'll get that done. I also have to mention that the valley pan was leaking a little all year. I resealed it three times. With this intake, the runners seemed to force the pan into the valley causing it to leak more than normal.

sounds like its time to eliminate the valley tray all together. i ended up making my own so i didn't have to cut the heat crossover off my six pack manifold. only down side is your looking at pulling a head for a cam swap. if your looking at leaving the single plane on i would invest in an indy with the removable top.

I don't use a valley pan "gasket" on my Victor.....
I have an aluminum plate too 68 HEMI.... But mine isn't the Indy like yours...

Exxon Valdez fixed I guess...
good luck next time out Bobtile

The one I took off was like the one in the top picture. It was a 440 source unit. If you made it out of a heavier gauge metal, I think it would work. I have had minor oil leaks with mine all season. It worked fine on the street, but always had oil when at the track.

Yes, the engine compartment looked like Prince William Sound!

I have the Indy 2 piece valley pan and to is trapped by both heads so one does need removal to take it out.
I'm seriously considering adding a plate under my present intake like the one I had on my old M1 for ease of sealing and removal.

You guys are all F#*%@d now.

Been tuning on the car for a good part of the day. I feel I have something for tomorrow at Island Dragway. keep you posted.

Well, I had nothing for today. First pass was a disappointing 11.54. Unfortunately that was my best pass. I have a lot of work to do. Time is almost out for this year.

Silver lining for today was reaction times

i wouldn't be to disappointed. just shows how well you had the dual quads tuned. my experience on a street car its pretty hard to beat a dialed multiple carb setup on a dual plane no matter what everyone says. looks like the single plane hurt the 60ft.

nice reaction time!!!

spun the tires a little on both passes. I hate going backwards with improvements.
