How do you guys feel about using carb. cleaner on a stubborn engine when it's cold out. I have used it for years, now a buddy tells me to stop, too damaging. I haven't used ether since my farming days.

I have used this on carbureted cars for years especially after they sit for months. I don't see a problem as long as you use it sparingly. You do have to watch what type of cleaner you use on throttle bodies. There is a throttle body cleaner made for EFI.

only draw back is like eric383 said.it can damage maf sensors if sprayed on them.on carb cars its fine,as long as you dont over spray it.

When I was a kid on the farm, we used WD-40 as starting fluid on cold engines.

It gave a little lubrication on those cold dry engines on the initial start-up....

Thanks all for the answers. WD40 huh, never tried that one.
